Help me with my Dual Iggy list.

By JimmyKamikaze, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I recently started pkaying a dual Aggressor list. First my list was

Ig B & C

Push the limit

FCS

HLC

IG 2000

Autothrusters.

Ive switched out ptl with predator and i wasnt too happy with the results. Next i changed ig B to D and put ptl back in. The results seemed ok.

Should i put the hlc down to a mangler on ig d so i can replace FCS with Advanced sensorson both iggys? Any thoughts, tips or advice is greatly appreciated

I've never been a huge fan of dual IG personally, seems super vulnerable to arc dodgers *ahem* phantom - which are super popular right now; maybe I'm just bad at flying them

I digress, I think B is the strongest IG of the bunch and you should keep it in the list, esp. with the IG title. When running 2 "big" units in any strategy game it's important to make the 2 identical so that your opponent doesn't have a clear target to focus fire. Also with the current big ship meta that don't go down in one round of shooting I think the FCS for the lock is more important than getting an action before you move, the IG has a great dial. I personally would play your first list, just my opinion. :)

B is great only if your offense centers around a cannon. High maneuverability is another way to go. C and D is a lot of fun and does not need cannons. I personally like PTL+Adv. Sens+autothrusters+Seismic Charge+ID+Ion Cannon.

Most of the time you can use Adv. Sens then clear the stress with a green move. Set up shots with the ion or punish those who get behind you with the bomb. It's a fun build.

I agree with Stone. The bomb could definitely be a good idea to help deal with those pesky arc dodgers. Make them think twice about getting in behind you.

See my problem with the first list is when i would take my s-loops they were unexpected and id have a great shot, most of the time i had nothing to modify the rolls with.

Thanks for the second list, i'm gonna try that one out.

I've been setting them up range 3 from each other and flying them towards each other in a pincer fashion. Hit hard, and fast, fly away and regroup. The only problem ive had so far really is with Soontir.

My only issue with IG B is that most of my shots were range 1 so the built in cannon gunner never really happenedsince i had HLC. So i tried with a mangler and wasnt too hapoy with the damage output.

ID and bombs will help you with this. Soontir only has 3 health. With my suggest build, first shot you get on him use the Ion cannon. If he's already stressed, he's screwed. Next round finish him off.

This has been my load out I have been running for a few weeks now:

IG88 B & C:

Adrenaline rush

Ion cannon

Flechette cannon

Fire control system

Auto thrusters

Seismic charges

IG-2000

This is 98 points. The fire control system is great with ability B has. I have played between seismic charges and proximity mines. Players choice. Adrenaline rush is great to use after a S/K turn.

Just my thoughts.

Hi pilots,

I'm very new to xwing and looking for a little advice either on this list construction or perhaps how to fly this list most effectively. I don't have much experience at all with the local meta, I'm just jumping in and learning through playing.

I'm going to try the B/C combo as well with a slightly different setup this evenining. I picked this because I was a big fan of the android assassin in the movies and stories...and Bossk isn't available (he was my favorite).

Predator

Mangler cannon

Accuracy corrector

Autothrusters

IG-200 title

Inertial Dampeners

I didn't think initiative was valuable with PS6 list, so I think I'll add a seismic charge to one of them.

In my experience with the build so far, Youll be hitting alot more with Predator so IG Bs ability doesnt kick in as much. I switched to D abd wasnt happy with Predator on it. But i never tried accuracy corrector. I dont know how well that will play out. Just my 2 cents so far.

I've used the first build OP posted since Wave 6 got out and it is a really powerful build. It is really unforgiving on the offense and can avoid most shots thrown at it. I usually move in for a Range 3 shot and then run away in the direction my opponent has the hardest to follow, then either turn around with sharp turns or an s-loop. When going into combat you will have Focus-Evade, if you hit a high AGI target you might want to save the focus and wait for the second attack with a TL, depends on your roll. I destroyed Soontir in an Autoceptor in the first round with one shot yesterday. Rolled 4 natural hits, he managed to evade them, then I rolled again with TL and got 4 more hits which he didn't survive. The important thing with that build is to not get too hungry for rolling red dice. If you want to shoot every round I'd recommend using D instead. I usually take one or two rounds to reposition and then get back in the fight. Also taking out support first is usually better to avoid being blocked in the late game and be able to focus down fatsies undisturbed.

Credit to MajorJuggler, but I love this build similar to the OP:

IG88 B & C*
Outmaneuver
FCS
HLC
IG 2000
Autothrusters
You get 4 dice, no Range bonus for the opponent, -1 Agility for the opponent, a Target Lock, AND a Focus. Talk about damage!! With C, you can do the surprising first-turn 3-straight into boost, giving you a turn 1 shot with gunner-effect + FCS for Target Lock if you miss, as well as range bonus denial, and -1AGI if you catch your opponent in the flank (edit: AND an Evade for defense). Can be quite the unexpected maneuver! Outmaneuver over PtL leaves your dial much more open for S-loops.
(*The Major uses D, but I like C better for above reasons.)

1st half of a local store tournament last night - 2 rounds

I ran the list the OP had:
Ig B & C
Push the limit
FCS
HLC
IG 2000
Autothrusters

Results: 1-1 W(100-0); L(0-70ish)

Win was against another dual IG-88 B/C list sporting a HLC on one and Mangler on the other - both ships had advanced sensors. I achieved very consistent damage despite my wily opponent sneaking away with 1-dmg hits so I was unable to use IG-88 B ability as often. FCS was incredibly helpful on almost every shot I took (especially with the 4-dice HLCs).

Loss was against an IG-88B (Mangler, Adv Sensors, autothrusters, VI - to counter the other IG-88s out there mostly) and 2 Starvipers with autothrusters. I maneuvered poorly at the beginning and lost 2 shields right away. Mid to late game the Starvipers were absolutely lights out, rolling all hits/crits several times at range 1. It was that sustained incredible damage that eventually put me away with 2 bad crits that magnified each other's functions.

I didn't use PtL as much as expected. I found myself using the red dial maneuvers frequently to get in good firing positions, I think really I should have paired it with Adv Sensors for best effect. In the matches last night Predator would have been really useful and likely downed the 2nd PS1 StarViper before he took out my 1st Aggressor possibly giving me a second win instead of losing.

Solid list IMO. I really enjoyed playing it but my 2nd opponent flew those vipers really, really well and had some hot attack dice. I think I definitely prefer HLC over Manglers. I might want to try one HLC and one Ion cannon? That would have been handy pinning down those **** vipers.

Thanks for all the input! I will def be putting these out for testing. Although i think i fell in love with BBBB equiped with accuracy correctors.
