By redfivedead, in Star Wars: Armada

Someone on the forums suggested using markers on the mini's, I gave it a try on the X-wings...

Nice! What type of markers did you use?

Fine tip Sharpies.

Nice

Do they smudge at all?

Doctormungmung, they don't. I did a base coat of primer in the ships base color. I would imagine if you didn't prime them, they would smudge.

I did this as well - I think the sharpies on primer look great!

Thanks. I was looking for methods to get a bit more detail without painting. Time to consider if using primer plus pens is better than just some painting highlights.

I shamelessly used fine tip sharpies to touch up my tie fighters. Those spokes were very hard to paint right.

I did up some of my fighters with fine tip sharpies as well...no priming, just bare plastic. No problems with smudging at all. You just have to let it dry as if you'd used paint. There's some photos on one of the earliest painting threads...

They look great! And are probably a much more economical way of doing the fighters than paint, and time saving! :) thank you for sharing.
