Hoping for Rogue One parallel Campaign

By Texx, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So, after seeing the concept art for the Rogue One spinoff movie art and the trailer, I got a little excited:

I would love it if FFG was able to do a campaign at time period 1, that is either parallel to, or coincides with whatever Rogue One has in store for us.

Oh, and now we know what the drop ship looks like that keeps dropping off the Rebel strike team in most of the core book campaign missions.

Also, if one of those troopers in the movie is named Fenn, I think that would make the price of admission worth it right there.

I could see it happening, and if not, could be player made. Though as cool as it would be for a reference of the game in the movie, I think the board game is too obscure compared to the movie. So unless one of the writers is a fan of this game, it probably won't happen.

I doubt someone in the movie will be named Fenn, but I'd be willing to bet FFG will tie him into the events in the movie, and probably release an ally and maybe a villain pack alongside it.

These definitely needs to happen.

You mean time period 2. 1 has to be Rebels, if only so we get an Ahsoka Ally Pack. ;)

I already plan to do a mini campaign for Heir to the Jedi (3 missions or so) after Twin Shadows is released. And I fully expect player made Campaigns to start flurishing during fall and later on, so the the question really only is if FFG makes a small box for the game or if they leave it to the community.

FFG would be smart to make tie-ins for all the new movies coming out. I'd expect ep VII content this fall/winter for example.

During the FFG panel at Star Wars Celebration, they did say they were actively working on products based on the new movies but weren't ready to announce them at this time. Expect that info to come out around September (or maybe GenCon).

"You better bet FFG is working on all the ships from the upcoming movies. If you’ve seen it in trailers, there are probably models in the works." -

Disney buying star wars is the best thing to happen to FFG since HBO made game of thrones (after FFG already had the licence).

X-wing has run out of OT ships and armada includes EU ships in wave 1, FFG have already designed their own ship (raider) for each game. Very few SW fans have read every book/comic and played every game, every time FFG go the the EU a portion of their customers won't be able to relate that ship to the SW they know and love. That won't sustain the success that FFG have been having.

FFG need new ships that everyone will recognise, which can only come from movies. A SW cinematic universe with frequent films will keep these games popular for years.

The same applies to imperial assault although it's use of new hero's and villains make it less vulnerable but at some point the existing OT material will run out.
