I want those squadrons so badly! Please, wave 1, hurry up and get here!
Please show up, Wave 1!
Seriously, this is getting to be extremely frustrating. I hate playing with proxies, I want the real deal! Where my ships at?!
The waiting is killing me.
It's almost as bad as when we had to wait for the next Star Wars movie/s in the '70's and '80's.
I want those squadrons so badly! Please, wave 1, hurry up and get here!
The squadrons are what I'm most looking forward to as well. It feels like there's a lot more interesting elements that are going to come into play for strategy & tactics once we see bombers and escorts on the table.
Do we have a model count for the squadron sets? Is it just one of each per box?
Miss-post
Edited by VetnorI am thinking the same, I want my Assault Fish and Gladiator so i can have 300pt games. No one round here has bought it and i need to convert some X-wingers!
My distributor says May on the website so its a while yet...and on holiday first two weeks of may so I'm resigned Mid May at least before i get my toys!

[edit] Original picture apparently too dark and cynical. I might have been playing imperials too much lately. ![]()
Now a much more friendly pic to redeem myself.
Edited by ElkerlycYes we do.
Rebel Pack
Two of each type of Rebel squadron.
2 x X-Wing
2 x Y-Wing
2 x A-Wing
2 x B-Wing
Imperial Pack
Two of each type of Imperial squadron.
2 x TIE
2 x TIE Intercepter
2 x TIE Advanced
2 x TIE Bomber
Its going to be expensive picking up fighters since only 2 of each type come per blister. I can see wanting to run more than 4 stands of Y Wings, for example, meaning $60 retail of fighters. ouch.

yeah that's pretty rough. but i still see the humor in it. lol
While not as terrible a delay as Imperial Assault's first wave, this is a frustrating delay only in that after getting several core-only games under your belt, it does feel like you're only playing the demo-only version of a much more complete game.
In the IA campaign, the first time the Royal Guard Champion was encountered and we placed a token on the board, it was such an underwhelming feeling with no villain impact whatsoever. The game ended up on the shelf until it was clear that the ally and villain packs were coming soon, and even then, we went to skirmish mode.
I'm glad our community is generally more tolerant than the video gaming world though - there would be riots over two major games releasing with month(s) long delays until the compenents for a "complete" experience were released.
Remember when they were saying that this was going to be a simultaneous release? ![]()

I'm sure that FFG originally intended Armada to have a simultaneous release.
So what slowed it down? They have enough Corvettes, Frigates and VSD's why not at least release those expansions so we can play the full game (without having to get 2x core)

That's an actual human been, I wonder if he made it?
Sorry for being so serious but it is a little bit too much dark humor.

While no one knows 100% the exact reason, it's believed to have been due to the strike on the west coast ports.

This is a pulitzer prize winning photo reputedly taken by a photographer named Kevin Carter. There is a 2010 Movie called "the Bang Bang Club" about Carter and his friends and associates in South Africa (very interesting film). This prize winning photo is taken in the Sudan, in 1993, one version of the story has Kevin Carter taking the picture then chasing the vulture away. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Carter

So the thing about humor is that basically anything is a possible subject of a funny, well-crafted joke. However- the thing that is often missed is that humor about painful subjects easily crosses over into bullying and crassness when it comes from a relative position of "strength" and lacks empathy for the target.
For example- Daniel Tosh joking about the **** of an audience member is disturbing and not actually funny while Sarah Silverman's routine about her own **** is- not because she's a woman, or because she is a **** victim- but because the joke is empathetic to the seriousness of the subject and doesn't dehumanize the (possible) victims. Tosh's "joke" was in some ways worse precisely BECAUSE we know/assume that he is not a violent rapist nor would he actually want to see or have an audience member raped- the joke dehumanized the person it was aimed at and did so from a position of strength. Regardless of what kind of person Daniel Tosh is or whether he's a nice guy or not he just shouldn't have told that "joke".
By the same logic- a likely first-world internet user posting on a message board about a tabletop game with a ~100+ buy-in to play requiring a well lit open space that can support a 4x6 table and a few hours of free time probably should avoid "jokes" about the tragic starving deaths of children in Africa. Particularly when telling that joke involves exploiting an actual image of an actual human being experiencing more horrible agony and tragedy than any person the joke teller will likely ever meet, know or come within 2000 miles of.
But hey... I'm really looking forward to wave 1 too, I bet the game will be a lot more fun to play with more options...
Edited by Istislahi'm mostly just glad the dice are available first, because i lumped them in with my Wave 1 purchase at Miniature Market.. and if they held up my whole order, I would have been very annoyed
I guess someone tattled about the picture...
My great fear is that Inquiringnewt will come out of his aquatic environment and see his shadow.
If he does, I worry we will have six more weeks of waiting for Wave 1. ![]()

Seems so. Edited my post. Now definitely not too dark. ![]()

True, but assuming you have a group to play with I'm pretty sure you could find someone to trade with. And all you need is the Y-Wing models the stand and the base. So you won't have to trade cards or upgrades or anything like that.
Maybe another preview will help to ease the pain?
As April draws its last 10 days, I'll be awaiting ANY news FFG decides to throw our way. BGG has advertisements for Wave 1, still as COMING SOON. As soon as a saw the ad I clicked only to be taken to the old Reb fleet article. Curses.
Armada is the only game I have been interested in buying for the past 2 years. I preordered in December. A February release was briefly teased at one point. Patience is a virtue, but I am tired of waiting but, more tired of no news from FFG. It's one thing to be a video game company like Blizzard and say, it will be released when it's done. It's another to be a board game company with units shipping across the Pacific and not tell where anything is in the process. You mean to tell me that FFG doesn't know exactly where their thousands of dollars worth of merchandise is? Absurd.
Thank the light side for Newt going out on a limb to tell us what he has heard or we would still be totally in the dark.
End of rant.
Anyhoo, excited for Wave 1's eventual arrival. It will be fun to get some friends to come over and try it out as a 2v1 or 2v2 if I can con enough people into it ![]()
