mistakes

This thread is for posting all of your game play mistakes.

My first one: I caved in and bought this game. Regret not included.

So are you saying you regret buying it?

Charging the front arc of a Vic-1 with my Neb-B... didn't end well for the rebels...

Flying my Victory-I flagship off the board is my biggest mistake by the way :P

Aw man! I've only flown a CR-90b off the board... I really have to step up my game... ;)

exspected one core set alone to be a playable game.

Putting 7 TIE's in arc of a Neb B Anti Squadron shotgun. Ouch.

Madtulip, one core set is a playable game :P

Regret not included. Don't have any. Didn't buy any. Prayhaps you can tell me good sir, where do I get regrets?

Mistakes were made.

In most games you cant kill the VSD in 6 turns and the imps cant kill the CR90 if running for objectives by mission. If you select missions like suggested by the rules the prediction who will win was 100% correct for our games.

Pure kill point wise it is only about the squadron points which leads to not even bringing them just to asure you dont loose them. The problem is imo how the damage distributed over a too small number of ships. If you would just scale up the number of game elements by factor 2 or 3 you would get a finer resolution in the points values destroyed, the possibility to focus fire on smaller parts of the enemies army points value and a more playable game. As with damaging i.e. the VSD the problem of the core set only is that 90% damaged equals 0% points. With 10 VSD models 90% damaged would equal ~90% of the VSDs kill points.

The game is not playable in my eyes because the outcome of the game is highly predictable and reducable to the initialtive bet which will imo change with a larger number of game elements and thus an finer resolution of damage distribution, focus fire and kill points.

I've seen the victory die in two of the three games I played

Accidentally bumping my maneuver tool into my CR90's base which meant it had to move into both the front and side arc of the VSD. It managed to survive with 1 hull point left but died next turn.

We just skipp this as a house rule.

I am not ragretful at all. :D

So far I think my biggest mistake was storming ahead with my fighters as I had no understanding of how to manage them in my first game.

Went an entire 300 point game with 3 VSD (2 of them borrowed) without ever setting a repair command or spending a repair token ... and not because I never had too

I flew both the corvette and the nebulon off the board on the same turn. It was my first game with them and I had them going very fast. I should have had a navigate command ready (I learned)

They were on opposite sides of the board too in positions that I thought were fine until I realized that turning to not fly off the board was going to swing me of the board anyway.

Doing three damage to the hull of the CR-90 with the third being the crit that deals a damage if it does a maneuver at a speed higher than one. Then forgetting about it for three turns as it continued along at speed 4.

Flying too many CR90's around too fast so that they ended up all over the place unable to concentrate their fire, and sometimes even missing next turns shooting all together.

Getting Dodonna and his neb-B sandwitched between the front arc at range 1 of a vic-1 and the side arc of a vic-2 because i didn't have a nav token saved.

Flying two Nebulon B's in between a line abreast of VSDs...

Moving to close to the edge of the board trying to line up some good shots and couldn't stop myself from going off the board even with my nav token. Then again next game same setup and opponent he missed 9 attacks in a row which cost him the game...not a mistake just bad luck.

I don't know, given how maneuverable it is and that it has a command stack of one, managing to fly a CR-90 off the map is quite an accomplishment.
