HELP ME FIGURE OUT SOME RULES

By tanncd, in Tannhauser

Hello to everyone..

As you understand i'm new to the game and therefore new to the forum, too. Recently i bought the ''tannhauser'' the first game without any expansion but ,here in Greece, I can't find anyone who knows the game and make me understand some rules, so i ask the help of anyone is willing to help.. Some questions may be silly happy.gif but believe me i want to know.. so i begin:

1) Can a character use the ''first aid kit'' to heal one row of his health without using any victory points?

2)(a) How do i put equipment in a crate?

(b) When a character flips a crate, it stays revealed for the rest of the game or it is flipped again from the side that shows the crate?

© There is a crate token that has the number ''0'' from the one side.. This i suppose that means ''0'' victory points...or it is ''10'' victory points?

3) What is the meaning of the phrase ''adds one additional hit'', that some weapons have in their explanation like ''strafe''..? As i think this means that for example if i roll 5 dice in a combat roll and all the dice hit the enemy then i have 6 hits because this ability adds 1 additional hit..Am i right?

4)patmos amulet..

(a) which of the two characters is moved as many circles as heizinger rolled successes? The victim or heizinger?

(b) after a successful attack with the ''patmos amulet'' the terrified character CANNOT make an action phase or he MAY NOT make an action phase?

5) Sha-ra-na...

When it says after a successful duel that ''the victim receives as many wounds as heizinger rolled successes'' it means the successes from the duel or heizinger must re-roll the dice to see the successes from the combat roll?

Sorry if my English aren't so good.Thank you in advance for your time and assistance and i hope that someone will help me to enjoy this perfect game..

with regards,

cd

Hello, Welcome to Tannhauser hope to see you around here frequently

1) Can a character use the ''first aid kit'' to heal one row of his health without using any victory points?

No, to heal you must use a Victory point (VP) he med kit allows you to heal one additional wound.

2)(a) How do i put equipment in a crate?

If you switch items with what you have and a item in the crate just switch them with the tokens. Remember you can stack equipment of the same type on your character sheet (Heavy weapons, grenades, automatic etc.)

(b) When a character flips a crate, it stays revealed for the rest of the game or it is flipped again from the side that shows the crate?

I believe the rules say one you flip it, flip it face up for the everyone to see. But we play it where it is secret and do not have to show anyone.

© There is a crate token that has the number ''0'' from the one side.. This i suppose that means ''0'' victory points...or it is ''10'' victory points?

We have always played it as zero, 10 is way too much.

Yes you are correct it add one additional hit to your dice results. If you rolled 3 hits it would be 4.

4)patmos amulet..

(a) which of the two characters is moved as many circles as heizinger rolled successes? The victim or heizinger?

The victim

(b) after a successful attack with the ''patmos amulet'' the terrified character CANNOT make an action phase or he MAY NOT make an action phase?

Basically if the character has not made an action such as attacking, he can not do it THIS TURN.

5) Sha-ra-na...

When it says after a successful duel that ''the victim receives as many wounds as heizinger rolled successes'' it means the successes from the duel or heizinger must re-roll the dice to see the successes from the combat roll?

You add how many succeses you rolled in the duel.

Lets say your roll 5 dice against Brown's 3 intelegence

you roll: 4 , 7 , 1, 6 , 8 = 4

Brown Rolls: 10 , 2, 6 = 2

You rolled a total of 4 succeses and win the mental duel. You also do 4 damage to Brown.

Thanks a lot sundance kid for your assistance.. I am grateful for your help and i hope to talk around everything. Thank you again...

today is your B-Day

one more question regarding the Patmos Amulett: Who moves the Victim - von Heizingers Controller or the Player of the Victim?

von Heizinger gets to move the character. You can also use this to your advantage in your tactics.

Best when you can out activate your opponent. Like moving the character towards the strosstrupen for a slashing.

Hello all,

just played my first Tannhäuser game last night (and did a lot of things wrong, because I had not read the rules correctly ....). So here are my questions following on from the game:

a) movement through doors (we probably did this wrong sorpresa.gif )

On the ground floor map there are several doors that are slightly adjar we played using only the blue arrows I have drawn on the map, could you confirm if the other arrows are also legal (best by colour!)

tannh2.jpg

b) I am a bit unclear on how the objectives are sorted out for setup - I am not even sure how to ask the question, could someone give a pointer how best to do this?

c)

2)(a) How do i put equipment in a crate?

If you switch items with what you have and a item in the crate just switch them with the tokens. Remember you can stack equipment of the same type on your character sheet (Heavy weapons, grenades, automatic etc.)

where does it say this? and how does this work: can I really stack all types of grenades on one slot - ie stihl, egg, smoke? does tnt also count as a grenade in this?

thanks for your answers

hi john, ok you can go through open doors any way, they just block line of sight till youre through them, on the ground floor map, if youre playing story mode, you will have to secondary and one primary goal, so not 2 primary as in the book, you just do 1, then 2 secondarys,

crate stuff, if stackable is ok if not you can swap for the one you want with your one you dont

thanks for your quick answer but it only partially helps me:

from what you say i can only go through OPEN doors so that means the RED arrow is not useable.

you say I can go through open doors anyway so that makes the GREEN arrow ok, as I would say its adajacent to the circle behind the door

would you say then that the YELLOW arrow is the way to go through that door and not the blue we used?

and in the case with ORANGE and blue both or only ORANGE ?

as always happy to hear advice thanks! happy.gif

The only arrow which does not work when going through doors is the RIGHT most blue one. All the others are legal in either direction.

The only thing stopping a character going through a door (as as I can remember) would be enemy character(s) occupying all the possible circles on the other side of the door.

There is a fan produced map which shows all adjacent circles. I can't remember where I got my copy.

I'm sure someone else will help with this

There were no fan made pathfinding maps.

They were official maps, FFG just never put them up.

Now that ToY's site is gone, you can't get them anymore.

Sorry guys i would like to add a question... As many may have noticed, the knife either you have it in your character sheet or you don't it is the same thing.. Someone told me that if you have the knife you use more dice than the case that you don't have it but he didn't specified it to me.. Please if you know something about it please help me... As you see i have a problem in understanding the rules... If someone can direct me to some FAQ'S please do it.. Thank you in advance...

Howdy,

hand to hand combat rules

a character with a little fist in the special ability area on the stat card can perform a hand to hand combat.

If your character does NOT have a hand to hand weapon (a knife for example) you perform the hand to hand attack with YOUR LOWEST combat stat on the stat sheet.

If you DO have a hand to hand weapon ( a knife ) then your combat value is your current combat value.

In sum, knife means you roll dice equal to your current combat value. No knife means you always roll your lowest combat value no matter where your life indicator is at.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot my man, for your precious help....
