How do shapeway models compare to those made by FFG and other miniature companies? The interdictor looks incredibly detailed on the digital preview, will it actually look like that once printed?

How do shapeway models compare to those made by FFG and other miniature companies? The interdictor looks incredibly detailed on the digital preview, will it actually look like that once printed?

If you go with the frosted ultra detail, which you should if you have the money, they look REALLY good. The material will feel different - it's much thinner and lighter than the plastic in FFG miniatures - but it will look good.

But I'll add that I don't have that much experience painting Shapeways minis yet, so it'd be good for others to weigh in.

Here are my Bulk Cruisers. This is the best I could do to upload them. I got photobucket and tried to upload, but when I put the URL in the x, it would respond. I tried on two different computers.

Anyway, there are some freighters and three CR-90s. I want to put the small freighters on fighter stands and the CR-90 on a fighter peg that fits onto the small ship stand.

Finally got some custom ships more or less completed... Utar Tartan Cruiser and Mel's Assault Gunboats on custom made bases with Litko acrylic flight stand parts.

Those are Utar's but are some of his special 1/7000 resin models.

Great stuff. Where did the fighter stand com from?

The fighter and ship stands are custom made based on the FFG design, the cardboard bits I drew up and printed and the clear flight stands came from Litko: http://www.litko.net/categories/Flight-Stands/

Ah man, I've just spent a few hours creating some Interdictor cards, without realizing there were some here already. I suppose I'll share them anyway, though in a separate post so they're easier to find.
