Absolutely PERFECT
Custom TIE Avenger and Assault Gunboat
Someone needs to do a base template, then it would be even more perfect.
Mel,
I am looking forward to the BFF-1 and other transports from X-Wing Alliance.
Salcor
I just used the X-wing base topper seeing as their stands were sacrificed in the making of these gunboats anyway. I will make a base topper for them too I guess.
Nice work. Is there a way to get it printed on as nice a paper as the ones the games come in? I know the X-wing folks have thier sources.
You should be able to get that paper type commercially. I just print them on heavy photo paper.
Im currently working on cheap stands for fighters, small ships and large ships. Trying to reduce the amount of material in the original design.
At the same time, I have started working on the 3 Gozantis, the BFF1 and the space stations.
What is a BFF1?
Mel, think we could get some TIE/d sometime?
What is a BFF1?
Bulk Freighter. Popular Target in X-Wing, and later TIE FIghter.

Cool Mel. Fighter and small ship stands would be awesome. Currently stealing stands from existing fighters and I am running out lol.
Bulk freighters will make good objective ships.
Think you could do generic shield dials with etched numbers for your custom bases? This would be a great idea for custom fighter flights to. Making base toppers with etched numbers and symbols would be awesome additions to your custom flight range.

Have you thought about making dials for the stands (so all we have to do is sticky back stats onto them?)
Mel,
Can you make a version of the squadron pegs that replace the peg on the small base?
OK, so for dials I am now using mat board with the printed base topper image glued to the top and Sharpie'd the edges black. This material is durable, and almost as thick as the original pressed stuff. This same material can be used to make the initiative sliders for Mel's new bases. Thank you Mel!
Mat board is what a lot of people use to accent pictures with inside frames. Available in colors and plain at most art/craft stores.
Take a base topper and slider and trace out your desired number. Cut them using a sharp hobby knife, using the usual advised cautions. Keep one of each shape aside for future use so you don't keep needing to find the extra laying around.

I wonder is it thick enough it could be used for even things like X-wing Dials and the dials for the cap ships?
Never thought about that stuff before.
Basically its just as thick once you add the printed card stock top, if not slightly heavier.
I might be sleepy today, but I didnt quite understand either of these suggestions

This one Im guessing you mean making the dials so you can just glue the numbers on them? I rise you something better. Since the Shield Dials are always the same (0,1,2,3,4,5,6) I can just engrave that in the model making the whole Shield Dial just one piece that fits into the stands.
Mel,
Can you make a version of the squadron pegs that replace the peg on the small base?
If I understand this correctly, you mean make a squadron stand that will fit a small ship? For example, to put a corellian corvette on a fighter stand?
If you want that, you dont really need anything. The corellian corvette should fit on the fighters peg perfectly since the diameter is the same. You just need to cut off the two arms for the other two fighters.
blank dial plates and sliders for the fighter stands would also be an idea. Mat Board makes my hands hurt lol. Seriously though, you make it all too easy.
Anybody cutting their own dials/sliders could also use styrene sheet.
Still looking through things available. Litko Aero systems offers their base maker. You can order 1.5mm thick clear acrylic bases in 3cm diameter with the flight stand peg hole drilled. Could always just order these 25 for $7.49 and then glue your printed top to them. Saves some serious craft time. Wonder if the hole will be too snug for the printed base peg though?
Solution to slider and shield dial problem.
