I can only heartily disagree with that statement. The Doomshuttle is one of if not the best ways to spend 24 points in the game!
Last three points on a Defender list
The Doomshuttle is amazing.
We'll went with advanced sensors and finished 4-2 in Swiss, placing 24th out of 90 overall. Bagged me a firespray so can't grumble too much.
My two losses were to a soontir, Turr and Tetran list all with stealth, autothrusters and PTL. Fel and Turr were left on 1 hull at the end, both with two crits on them (on direct hits grrr) and they managed to avoid 5 4-hit/crit attacks between them in this state to wipe me. Those were the hottest green dice I've even seen! I never once shot at range 3 either so autotrusters were redundant.
The second loss was to a chewie with jan/recon/title silliness and two FCS b's. The third round saw chewie down to 4 hull, one B dead and the other a shield or two down to the loss of the shuttle and a couple of shields on Vess. The tables then turned quickly when Chewie and the B managed to one- shot dark curse and my academy off the board in quick succession, whilst chewie was down to 1 hull and stubborn refusing to die. A one hull Vess moves in range 1 of chewie with focus/evade/evade and grabbed a target lock. Alas, it wasn't to be as I managed only two hits before chewie hit me back with 4. **** wookie! Frustratingly, I forgot to vader chewie in the second round which, apparently would have been all it needed to flip this one.
Overall I can thoroughly recommend the list. There were no matchups I faced that couldn't have been won on another day. Plus, rocking the only defender in a 90 man event was pretry satisfying in its own right anyway ![]()
And for clarity I am in no way saying I lost either game solely to bad luck. The guy flying the squints was a great pilot and flew a great game and the chewie list went on place pretty overall which is testamant to Lewis' ability which he certainly demonstrated playing me with some evasive flying with a non-engine falcon!! Both great guys to play too
