My predictions: How they could make K-Wing and Punisher different, fun and viable.

Wave 7 fotos are up and we will get the 2 ultra heavy Bombers packed with ordnance slots.

But as we all know bombers suck because ordnance is bad.

So how would super heavy bombers make any sense in this situation.

This is of course wild speculation, but i would have some ideas how FFG could configurate these ships to actually make sense gamewise, paired with an ordnance fix.

I think they should give both ships the same new action in their bars called target coordination (or so): you may fire two secondary weapons this turn.

This would make the ships very unique and throw up the problem that they would need to get actions to actually make the attacks accurate, or to fire missiles/torps in the first place.

Therefore they should get an almost mandatory crew card named Weapons Officer (if we don't have that name already) reading: if you take a target coordination action, you may perform a free Target lock or focus action. At a cost of 2-3 points probably.

Now to the different ships and how they could be differentiated but effective.

K-Wing (base model):

Statline: 0/1/4/4 for 20 points or 0/1/5/4 for 21 points representing the toughness of the ship and its lot of actions and upgrades while having no primary attack. This should have a pretty terrible dial of course.

Actions: Focus/TL/Boost(Slam engine!)/Target Coordination

Slots: 2xTurret, 2xTorp, 2xMissile, 1-2xBomb,1xCrew, maybe 1xSystems but i am really in doubt if that would make it OP because of FCS.

This would make the ship able to fire any combination of turrets, missiles and torps, which would make it pretty scary but not that great considering its price of over 30 if outfitted right. It would also be forced to either try and arc-dodge via boost or to fire 2 secondaries. This would punish bad positioning from your opponent really hard, but still remain very managable if countered right.

(Also: YES i am really suggesting another good turret ship. S*** it imp fanboys!)

Le Punisheur:

Statline: 2/2/8/0 at 19 points or 2/1/9/0 at 18 points

So this is a simpler design and would benefit from a better dial than the K-Wing, being pretty tanky itself while being a little less maneuvrable than a Tie-Bomber but get more payload and tankiness for it. This ship would only make sense paired with an ordnance fix. I am going to suggest one soon, wait...

Action: Focus/TL/Barrel Roll/Target Coordination

Slots: 3xBombs, 3xTorps 2x Bombs, 1xCrew, 1xSystem (you need FCS here really...)

You surely ask what we could do with that many ordnance slots. That does not make sense, does it? Look at the ordnance fix i suggest!

Ordnance fix:

I don't know how they will fix it but let's just say they add a new entry to the FAQ rectifying any Ordnance.

So new would be that whenever we are instructed to discard the ordnance card, we exhaust (aka tap) the card and it readies only after the second end phase. This means you can fire a missile or torp every 3 turns. This could indicate the reload time of one of your Torpedo or Missile launchers. I have read a lot of arguments that torps are fired in volleys in this game and that you empty your magazine, etc. But that makes no sense to me. These ships carry multiple torps and it's kinda ridiculous that they run out after one shot if you ask me.

This would mean that the Punisher could take 3 of the same missile and have phenomenal Firepower all game long (if you can keep people in arc and have TLs and the like...)! For a steep price of course!

I know not everyone is going to fall in love with these ideas immediately, but i think FFG needs to come up with something useful any way, and this would at least make the new ships powerful and interesting to play!

Yeah okay new pics from Boardgamegeek suggest i was not right...

K-Wing has a 2 AD turret and a new Symbol. The Punisher has shields, and boost (yay Autothrusters XD)

The new symbol still means there is hope for a primary plus secondary **** of some sort, and with the 2 turrets it still could get a turret slot!
