What exactly are you expecting from the Intersher?

By mazz0, in X-Wing

Presumably it has more bomb/torpedo/missile slots than the Bomber.

Now, I don't know about you, but the Bomber already has more than enough such slots for me.

"Ah", I hear you say, "but this wave comes with the 'ordnance fix'n"

Maybe so, but that means one of two things:

• Ordnance is fixed enough so that the old ordnance-powered ships are now worth taking, but not overpowered, and this new ship is not worth taking as it includes a big overhead for all the ordnance it can carry

• This new ship is over-powered since they've fixed ordnance and this baby gets the most of it

Obviously it's also possible that FFG have balanced all of the bone perfectly, but we'll see.

Personally, I'd have liked to see the ordnance fix come with standard, non specialist ships that just happened to be able to take the odd ordnance, like X-Wings.

I expect to give as much punishment as one of the namesakes I've given it. "Cereza".

A lot.

My prediction?

The ordnance fix has taken a while, so it'll either be they decided they couldn't fix it and release a load of new ordnance cards that are cost effective, or they pack a modification or a rule change in Wave VII.

As for the Super Bombers? My guess is they won't work like the existing bombers.

I like to call it the Pun-dictor BA-DA-DING!!! :D

What's an intersher?

What's an intersher?

A mash up of the word Punisher and Interdictor, there are some conflicts in to what actually the name of that type of Tie Fighter because they look exactly the same according to different EU sources.

And that is the problem with EU sources. They often have conflicts. For another example go search up pictures for the V-wing from Star Wars. See pictures of 2 different looking ships? Yup you found both cannonized versions of the V-wing.

Incorrect. There are actually two different ships sharing the name V-wing. The V-wing Airpseeder appeared in the original Rogue Squadron game and is basically the successor to the Snowspeeder, while the V-wing Starfighter appeared in Revenge of the Sith and was a late entrant for the Republic in the Clone Wars.

Confusing? A bit. But conflicting? Nope.

I really, really, really, REALLY hope they made all existing ordnance usable, and aren't just making more cheaper types.

I would be surprised if they did not make all the ordinance more useful. Proton torpedoes are the only thing that have any name recognition, and so if they want to fix ordinance, those babies should be at the front of the line.

Out of all the torpedoes IMHO Photon torpedoes are the 2nd best torpedoes in the game (the 1st being flechette torpedoes). They don't cost half a ship and they have a built in dice modification mechanic to (almost) make up for the spent target lock token. The only thing that makes flechette torpedoes better is that they have an effect if they hit or not and you can get 2 of them for the price of a single photon torpedo.

A sequel to an alright movie, staring Cher.... It could work...

This is why I don't particularly want to see it as a mod. I've no issue with the K-wing and I like the Interdictor, but I want the Y-wing, B-wing and most of all the X-wing to start getting real use out of that torpedo slot. I also hope for a rule change because it'd universally buff all the ordnance cards: being the game's best procket platform'd be a real boon for the A-wing.

I expect to be able to fire all the secondary weapons I can tag on it IN A SINGLE TURN MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I expect that it uses bonus missile slots to expand on what upgrades go there. Like how Y wings have bomb load outs I would like sensor loadouts. Ecm loads, jamming, tracking, ECT ECT.

I prefer Inpunterishdicertor :P

But back on topic, I like the idea of being able to fire multiple ordnance cards per turn. Would be uber expensive though at 4 pts a pop for proton torps or 6 for adv torps. It would probably have to be limited to one target too, to prevent a run of red dice tabling too much of your opponents force in one round of fire. Multiple stresspedos would be horribly unfair on whichever poor soul was on the receiving end, but would be undeniably effective at reducing one pilot/ship per turn to a pile of quivering giblets which never gets an action ever again.

It might be a bit more likely that the size of these new big uglies means that their ordnance bays are larger so they dont discard the ordnance that they fire. It could be one part of the fix, with the other being a buff to ordnance firing ships across the board; it could be as simple as being allowed to use the target lock you have to discard to modify the dice for that piece of ordnance.
