So my first thought upon seeing two heavy bombers, is that they could really pave the way for some awesome new scenario play to shake up the current 100 pt death match. Imagine a scenario where one side has to escort their bombers on a bombing raid of a huge ship and the other side has to shoot the bombers down before the huge ship is destroyed. Could be fun and challenging and very thematic. Imagine the zeppelin scene from Flyboys. If you haven't seen it, you should. Just replace the French/English with the Empire,(Ties and Tie Bombers/Punishers)and the Germans with Rebels(Xwings and the transport as the zeppelin) It would be super fun!
Do the Wave 7 heavy bombers pave the way for new awesomeness?
Totally agree. Asymmetric points battles can work, having delayed reserves coming from a random table edge is a great way to add variety with the current set up. We also need some "atmospheric" battle options. Bombing stuff doesn't really work in space but does for ground targets. Even from the recent spoiler we have "space" fighters operating in the goo (atmosphere). Having some ground targets with AAA defending as well as fighters and escorts would be another great edition. But even if FFG isn't going to do this themselves there is no reason not to come up with our own ideas for this.
I already have tried AT-ATs and AT-STs vs fighters and it can work. I hope they spoil their "improvements" to missiles and torpedoes next (fingers crossed) before the 6 month inevitable wait until we can actually get these wave 7 models.
Edited by DB DraftGround targets would be great and/or space platforms or something if they wanted to keep it in space. Something stationary that shoots back.
First it depends on what else come with them. Right now both missiles, torpedoes, and bombs have something that makes them lacking in the game, otherwise they would be used more often. If they are nothing more than a 2 firepower ship with 2 bomb slots with missile and torpedo slots then they won't be all that good in this current meta turreted primary weapon or not.
Edited by MarinealverI'm going to go with the best answer here... YES!

I am pretty confident that FFG wouldn't release a whole wave of ships that have no chance of being in any competitive lists. Not sayingany of the wave 7 ships will be meta shattering or anything, but I bet they will be at least usable. In that light, I am betting that there will be some sort of missile/torpedo fix included in this wave or at least the new heavy bombers will be able to use them to devastating effect.

I totally agree! I hope they fix ordnance with this wave. It will be so nice!
I hope this ordnance fix doesn't require you to buy multiples of those awful craft. I know I'll never want to field a Crack wing.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope!

I'm not sure where all the Kwing hate comes from. Sure it looks kind of crappy, but as far as EU ships go, its not horrible. And it fits into the feel of Star Wars to me. Its well known that GL based the dog fighting scenes from SW on old WW2 footage. And this game is based on those scenes. The kwing looks very much like an old WW2 bomber so while ugly, it makes sense.
