Please allow me to derail the thread and mention that I'm amazed that Mongoose is still around. It almost seems as if crappiness is their schtick.

I've never had any issues with anything I've gotten from Mongoose - none of the old Starship Troopers stuff (RPG and tabletop game alike) or their more recent Traveller stuff has demonstrated any issues like that described.

To clarify, that's what I've heard. I should've mentioned that. The only company I have "personal" issues with is WW. Their Exalted crew sucks in so many ways they put Dyson to shame. But, this is about RT and RT is awesome and I'm so freakin' excited for it!

I have a theory why the release has been pushed back. FFG's mutant writers have risen up! That's why Ross is gone, they've called him in to purge their offices with his flamer. At least that's what I imagine.

Nah, probably more like the administratum simply misrouted his printer run request and now the books are floating in the hold of a rogue trader heading for the Halo zone. Boy, won't he be surprised when he realizes that he's got a hold full of books instead of that shipment of plasma weapons!

That book contains HERETICAL knowledge! Exterminatus!

I myself was fed up with the delays. But life is full of crap we can't controll. Did any of you try reverse engineering the game with the information we do have at hand? I did and I know it isn't offical RT stuff but it gets me and my players by until I can get my copy of the book. The only person who has a copy of the book in my group lives 200 miles away and we see him when we see him. I've been playing RPG's since Chain Mail and have found out that if you think it's going to be in the rules you are usually correct. So take what we've got; make up your own stuff and wait til we all get our copies.

I foolishly believed they would not ding my credit card until they were ready to send out the game.

FFG, that did make me mad, but only because it came as a surprise. If you had said "we'll charge you before we ship the collector's edition" I still would have bought it.

While shiny is good, I like a lot of support for a game. So I'm going to play Dark Heresy for another half year or more before crossing over. I'll wait for a few supplements to roll out. First, I want to get my hands on Ascension and do some high powered DH.

Ascention you say? Guess what; you'll be waiting for it, waaaaaaiiiiiiiiting. demonio.gif

I can accept why people buying the CE got money charged before it was sent, since they are personalizing the warrant they probably want to check that people can afford if before they do so.

Vendors can validate the card without putting through the charge and I'm sure they'd put the charge through before they were foolish enough to ship it. Motels do it all the time. They won't let you stay without checking to see if the card is good, but they don't charge you until checkout.

That's a big chunk of change that is #1 no longer making money in the customer's bank account, #2 IS making money in FFG's bank account and #3 costing the customer compounded credit card interest (until they pay their bill, naturally).

It's the people who pre-ordered who have the real right to complain. I didn't, because I feel I need to support the local economy by purchasing at the local game store....but yeah. I think that's a very valid gripe. 100q is like...$150 bucks, so that's a noticable loss of intrest.

To #1 - $200 in an account earning 5% APY will earn approximately $2.50 in the three months, or you'll have lost the opportunity to earn $2.50. If you can find an account earning that much, you probably won't miss $2.50.

To #2 - Possibly, it may be in escrow until the book ships. Either way, FFG can't recognize the revenue from the sale of those books until they ship (if they ever do preocupado.gif ).

To #3 - Your credit card company only changes interst on your overdue balance. If you pay on-time, you aren't charged anything. So, if you bought the collector's edition on the first on the month with your credit card ($200 w/ shipping, we'll assume), you get your bill on the 1st of the following month, and pay it by its due date (we'll say the 5th), you only owe the company $200. In fact, assuming you have that bank account with 5% interest, you earned yourself a tasty $0.83 with that $200 while in loitered in your account. Now, if you pay late, then the company begans to charge 18.99% interest, compounded monthly, and you're hosed.

So, while it's an immaterial loss of interest, it is unusual (and rude?) to charge someone for a good or service they have not yet received.

We can only hope that FFG learns from this, and in the future, adopts Amazon's approach (charge when shipped).

My Amazon pre-order for RT says expected DELIVERY date of the 17th... which means they would have to ship it tomorrow and get it to me almost instantly. Normally I would be worried, but this is FFG we're talking about folks.

They obviously have a group of Rogue Traders to deliver the Rogue Trader game, traveling through the perils of the warp to cross mass distances to get this game to us on time! I just know it! gui%C3%B1o.gif

My amazon order says shipping the 21st, I have my hopes up, but I am also prepared for them to be crushed :-P

Im from the UK and my amazon order says ship today, I am not totaly convinced, still fingers are crossed.

For you lucky American's Dogstar Games on E-bay says more than 10 copies instock for sale!

I have re-ordered my Rogue Trader through Amazon UK but I am not holding my breath !!!!!!!

#3 may change - credit card companies are reportedly looking to move to an 'interest from date of purchase' model, particularly after the government severely handicapped their ability to trap the people who are most likely to get into debt and be stuck there paying lots of interest (collage students).

It's not at all uncommon to be charged for a custom product (in the case of the CE) in advance, but it would be unusual in the case of the regular editions to be charged before it ships.

but they also say they have more than 10 copies of Haarlock Legacy Two: Damned Cities, and the Radical's Handbook for DH.

I have now cancelled my pre-order for Rogue Trader and picked up a SHADOWRUN 20th Anniversity Edition from CATALYST GAMES - It is great - Check it out.

FFG really need to get a grip of customer service and realistic release dates.

DW.

Trust me, your loss. Better to wait for a great product then get one early that is lacking... just look at Blizzard games.

Sent a message to Dogstar games on ebay - they do not have their copies yet either, but informed me that they were told the first week of October by FFG

No guarantees that they weren't saying that just to get me to purchase a book from them

Source please? It doesn't surprise me that they'd try to pull that sort of thing, but I think you'll see an sudden increase in the use of debit cards, checks, and cash if that happens. I make my money work like a dog for me, and giving the credit card companies a penny before it's their turn will not happen.

Its fall, so wheres the update on release date?

*twiddles thumbs*

Word to that.

Need to know when i have to set some moneys aside.

It is getting a little annoying, though if this book (im getting CE) is as good as their DH books i dont think i will be all that annoyed at having to wait. From what i have seen FFG puts alot of work into their products to make them mastercrafted quality (so they are harder to find and cost 10x as much(just kidding)) and i most certinly think that quality is worth waiting for.

Its like if you go out to a nice restraunt you expect the food to take longer then if you went to say burger king.

That's all fine & good, and I understand waiting for a good finished product.

HOWEVER, the product IS finished! The meal is done. And there are some lucky folks who got their dinners already (aka went to GenCon).

And in recent memory, games come out SOON after Gencon. This is not the case with the RT book hence the annoyance.

I also expect nice food to turn up within a reasonable timescale because I paid more for it than a Burger King

Gah, when is this coming out? I hate waiting, I wanna play! llorando.gif

I'll check my FLGS and bookstore, maybe I'll get lucky this weekend... preocupado.gif
