Lack of Errata- good?

By Necronis, in Rogue Trader

Now that a lucky few have this book in hand , I hope the lack of errata in the support section and on this forum means my RT book wont have all the written corrections/changes that my DH book is covered in.

So what's the scoop? Or is the errata so huge it's still being compiled?

I think the lack of errata can be pegged on the freshness of the game itself. It hasn't been out long enough or played enough to generate the kind of rules questions and confusions that often require errata. Give it six months, and we will likely see an errata document. That, and Fantasy Flight learned a lot with Dark Heresy, and the rules are much tighter in Rogue Trader than in the first printing of Dark Heresy.

Then there's the fact that FFG wasn't responsible or the first printing of Dark Heresy. Black Industries was.

Still, just wait for the game to be playtested for a couple of months. Im sure som cracks and inconsistencies will appear soon enough.

Not enoug fresh eyes have seen the book yet.

Those who have the book are very few. Most likely no one else in their game groups have the book other than them. It takes two or more people with the book talking/arguing with each other before errata questions really pop up.

TBH, this is rather insulting.

The book hasn't really been officially released. Aside from FFG only around 200 people have copes of RT, The reasons for a lack of errata should be perfectly obvious.

Actually, I would like to see an errata post-haste regarding the missing commas on pg 96, a better explanation of pgs 102-128, and the vagarities on pgs 264 and 265 to be addressed and clarified. Those still mystify me and, at the moment, I couldn't even begin to tell you what they say...

Agreed. This is gross negligence of the highest order and I simply won't stand for it.

/Sarcasm off.

When you get your copy of RT, you'll find that they have implemented much of the errata from DH. So that's a step in the right direction.

Khoun, it's VERY obvious when you consider the amount of errata that has nothing to do with rules. Count up the amount of corrections needed in the Career Paths, Pychic Anilities cost and Dramatis Personae. If you need to be insulted by my not wanting to have to write that information in my new RT it's no skin off my nose.

I guess I could have been more clear though.

Are there as many non rule corrections that were left out. I understand about the player interaction needed before the rest of the bugs are found.

I've never seen an RPG with complex rules not in need of errata. I've only seen a lot of them that don't get the errata they need. For me, the 16 pages of changes, clarifications and explanations is a good thing. I'd expect Rogue Trader to manage about 10 after a few months have passed.
