Starwars battlefront will have zero prequel stuff in it
EA's done something right at least
Honestly the ships, hardware, and battles were not the bad parts of the prequels so why not include them?

Agreed
I've always had a problem with EA after they once tried to take me to court when i worked for GW.
I'd named the warhammer 40,000 campaign system we were publishing with a name that had the words 'total war' in it.
They sent a snotty legal letter claiming they owned the phrase total war
I sent a snotty one back saying that it was a poltical/military 'concept' and if anyone had dibs on it it was Goebels or Himmler
we ended up calling the system 'dark stars' (which i hated) as it just wasnt worth a massive legal battle (which our team were certain we'd win) for the sake of a name.
It did make me think they were massive prats though.
Dammit! I wanted to shoot gungans!
@Gadge, Dang there goes my "Totale Krieg" boardgame idea
Dark Stars, huh? Good thing you didn't get sued by John Carpenter
Thats marketing for ya, those guys live in their own universe. I read a while ago Red Bull sued Old Ox, because in their warped minds thats teh same thing; A bull is not an ox! Raaagh!!! The people who make La vache qui rit should have sued red bull... Both their logo's feature a crimson bovine.
But yeah EA are scum and so is Nintendo for how they treated megaman fans.
I don't care whether they have prequel stuff or not so long as they continue with what they did in the Battlefield series and give stick and rudder control for the ships. If they want to be super-nice and enable a TrackIR or mouse-look option while in the cockpit, I'll be even more excited. Definitely getting this game when it releases.
Oh god the ship controls! took me hours to get them just the way I wanted. (Bloody Y- axis!)
Still the games were a blast. If you finding yourself playing battlefront on the Hoth map,, rather than watching the Empire Strikes Back, then the game is doing something right! And that was just on PS2 graphics, can't wait for the new one!

Hate to tell you but there's no space combat it's all 1st person I think.

New trailer is up. It has ships and cockpit view. (Would really suck if thats just for the trailer- then EA definatly wins worst company award for the 3d time)
Sorry for not posting a working link, for some reason i can't paste on these forums anymore.

Yeah, there's no space dogfighting, but there is atmospheric dogfighting, which is my favorite thing anyway. I'll enjoy that. And the cockpit views look pretty sweet.
Off topic, but seeing others familiar with Dark Star makes me very happy.
I dig the idea that Darth Vader will spawn on at least some battlefields*.
*and then I remember all the kids at Disney fighting Darth Vader at the Jedi Academy. Suddenly the battles seem hilarious.
So looking forward to this. November can't come soon enough.
On the topic of 1st and 3rd person perspectives, Dice announced you can toggle between both.
PS4 Pre-order has been made!
Still waiting on any news about a Collectors Edition, though. Pre-ordered the Deluxe in the meantime.
I dont pre-order anymore i wait for reviews.
I'm sad I won't be able to play as Cad Bane, Ahsoka, or Captain Rex. The omission of The Clone Wars in Battlefront sucks.

Given the number of recent failures by EA, I strongly urge you to reconsider any and all preorders going forward.
Games companies are very good at creating marketing campaigns that show you exactly what you want to see, but those same companies are far less capable on delivering. The good news is that if you wait to buy a game until after you have read reviews, you'll still be able to get the product- assuming it's actually good enough for you to want to play it.
And hey: if people stop preordering games, profitably will be dependent on post release quality, not pre release hype. That's a very good thing for we players.
As a younger and more impressionable person, I was once convinced by a Gamestop rep that if I didn't preorder a AAA console release I was interested in, the store might not have any copies available for me on release day.
(It didn't help my judgment that this person was attractive, flirtatious, and of the gender I'm interested in.)
Then I actually went to pick my copy up, peeked behind the counter, and realized they had a pile literally three feet high, two or three feet deep, and at least six feet long. There were hundreds of copies of the game, just at that one store.
I haven't pre-ordered anything since.

Total War is SEGA.
EDIT: The irony is they announced a Warhammer Total War today...

Did the dude at least give you his number?

If they had put it in it'd be film material, not Dave Filoni's stuff.
I've never played the original two battlefront games, but from what I've hard about them, this new one sounds pretty bad in comparison except for the big upgrade in graphics obviously.
Less Maps
Less Worlds
Less Players
Less Factions
No Space Combat
etc

It was owned as a title or published by electronic arts at the time. Trust me i remember as it caused me no end of hassle rebranding and re designing all the promo material. The C&D letters certainly came from 'electronic arts' and not as 'sega' at the time even if they may well have been essentially the same company.

The problem with a lot of games (and i write this having a fair few friends who design and code games) is that about 90 per cent of their effort goes into the first 20 per cent or so of the game. By the time you get to the end of a game they have invested very little time.
Because most people have poor attention spans and never see the last levels.
They need to hook you on the opening couple of hours and make it very cool for a while.
Im a 'completer finisher' type. I'll play a game to the end even if its rubbish (in the hope it gets better) but the vast majority of gamers are not like that and get bored easily or stop playing if it gets too tough. Its why a lot of games feel rushed or have unsatisfactory ending or can start to feel repetitive after a while.
Just no point investing development and programming time and money into 'level 50' of a 52 level game if only ten people are ever going to play it that long to see it. :
(gross simplification but apparently thats how it is)

Also pre-ordering had largely been made obsolete by services like steam. The fear of them running out is non existent with digital copies.
You would think so. Weirdly enough, there are a lot of preorders with Steam.
No, I have no idea why.
