what is the ruling for spear with xaldin being in your friend area. can you gain the second challenge phase.
spear ruling
I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to. My gut reaction was this was the same sort of thing as the CoWG, in that it's a matter of what hapens when player/dark cards become friends. But it's not, I mean if you have xaldin as a friend that's no problem. Now you could just naturally equip him with stuff, being a friend and all, no problem there. Spear says only Xaldin can equip, he can have any number, if he has 4 bla bla bla, but there's no clause like "if Xaldin is your player card." It would just do a logic check like: 1. is Xaldin in play if yes 2. does he have 4+ spears equipped if yes 3. confer the ability to challenge twice on the player.

Actually, if Xaldin is in your friend area, you don't get the double challenge phase.
What you're lookin for is somewhere near the bottom.
so if im reading this all right xaldin only gets the second challenge as a player card but axel gets the fire magic use at all time but not the boost from the rings. im just trying to figure out how to build the deck.

The only Player/XIII that gets null'd whilst in the Friend zone is Xaldin's 'Double Challenge' effect if I remember correctly. Apparently having an Axel that can challenge twice a turn with uber amounts of fire magic is too broken.
but axel can still do that it just you dont use him in a challenge just the fire magic which is almost the same.

Yeah. I can see how losing 2HP and only losing 1HP are almost the same. [/sarasm]
that came across wrong. what i was trying to say is that if you were to play a Org. XIII deck your better off running xaldi as your character cause atleast then you hav a back up plan of aggro if you wanted to do wr. and with that ruling axel is a better friend then a player. i have no problem with that but it seems weird that there both not equally good as players and friends.
huh, so this was given power level errata? I mean there's nothing on spear that would indicate this wouldn't work with Xaldin in the friend area.

It might be because Spear's effect is supposed to affect Xaldin, not your Player if Xaldin is a Friend?
o so its an implied rule to some point

Should be, IMO.
I mean, I get why it was ruled, I have no problem with it since it's so very irrelevant anyways, I'm just saying spear never references xaldin as a player card. Really the ability doesn't seem to have anything to do with Xaldin, I mean if you could somehow ignore the uniqueness rule and the fact that only xaldin can equip spear, the way the card reads if you had 4 different friends each with a spear, you could challenge twice. In retrospect this is like the CoWG thing, because it's about what does it mean when it says "you." Although at the same time it's nothing like that, since this has been ruled on and seems to be set in stone : D

It represents 'you' as a person. That Player card is you.
I think it's silly. It's not like challenging twice in a turn is broken for an OrgXIII deck. Yeah, it's 2HP per turn...if you win both times. That, and you'd have to a) play 4 Spear's onto a Xaldin in your friend area b) keep that Xaldin in your friend area for periods of time. I mean that's A LOT harder to maintain then, say, Valor Form Sora.
I got no real problem with following the ruling, I'm just saying that if it were allowed it would make play funner and more challenging
