Height of ships/squadrons - for storage

By MAstaKFC, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello All,

I'm looking to buy a plastic storage box to store my assembled Armada minis which are enroute in the mail. I was wondering if someone could help me out and give me the height of the assembled ships/heights? Worse things would be to crush my precious Star Destroyer :(

Thanks!

63mm is the tallest I believe or you may want to think about storing them in two halves to make it easier to store and take up less space

On BoardGameGeek's Armada page, in the files section, is a file called something like MicroHangers. It's a pdf that you can print out to make little boxes designed to fix the models exactly. Even if you don't make the boxes, their size will tell you how tall, wide, and thick the actual models are so you can determine a box size that can fit them all.

What do you mean by assembled? On the stands - ready to fly?

If that is the case, the tallest is the VSD which, conveniently enough, fits assembled on stand in the original box with just a little room to spare above the antenna. The box is 5.25 inches (13.335 cm according to the Internet) tall [outer dimension to give a bit more headroom].

If you are going to have a modest collection it might be best to just find some plastic to glue over the window in the original box. For a moderate collection, you can go with the big plastic box, but I've been finding that getting a box that tall also means that L x W grows quite a bit. Keep in mind that we currently have no idea how tall the Imperial-class will be assembled on stand. For me, it is this uncertainty that makes me hesitate. I'd hate to commit money and storage space to a big box only to find it too short for my ISDs later.

I'd love to store everything assembled and ready to go, but it's just so much air that would have to be stored with them. For myself I think I'll still be able to get everything in one or the core boxes for Wave 1. Once ISDs are in hand I can see if it is viable to store on the stand in a reasonable way.

Thank the maker that we don't need to store a SSD...

Apologies for the Necro post. I was doing some research and stumbled across this thread and had to pause to laugh at this post:

I wonder if there even is an affordable storage box that can host the SSD, haha

I suspect for most people it will be the box that it comes in.

My guess is it will not need storage,

just like airplanes at the airport you can leave it on the drive way,
