Bad Acolyte!

By morexis, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

What do i do if one of my fellow acolyts keeps goofing around and not being serious, for example: we were in a feral world town and he couldnt speek feral world so he kicked the feral worlders in the nuts and threw meat at their faces? He is a rank 1 psyker and i am a rank 5 arbitrator so it wouldnt be hard for me to kill him, but if i kill him the inquisition would probably kill me. The reson he is such a low rank is because he was executed by the gm last campaign. What should i do?

Surely a rank 1 psyker wouldn't stand up long against a pack of feral worlders? Especially if he uses his powers and marks himself as a daemon-shaman or similar. What's your GM doing about it?

Let nature take it's course. Puny 1st rank psykers would be no match against a pack fo feral worlders. Let him get torn to shreds, if he cries for help you simply look the other way. He only has himself to blame for such behaviour...

If you find the player's play-style disrupting to your enjoyment of the game, talk to your GM. He or she may be unaware that his antics are causing such waves for the other players.

my gm was getting realy mad

He is a rank 1 psyker and i am a rank 5 arbitrator so it wouldnt be hard for me to kill him, but if i kill him the inquisition would probably kill me.

That depends entirely on the justification. Kicking people and throwing meat in their faces? Sounds like daemonic possession to me and we all know those psykers are half a step away from the warp at best, don't we?

Best ask the GM in private whether he'd be ok with you disciplining or killing the psyker.

Yeah there are better career paths to choose from if you want to play "pranks" like that. Odd behaviour in psykers isn't really something that bystanders wants to see happening...

Simple:

Take a piece of wood, and beat some sense into him...

At the start of the next session, ask you gm why the locals haven't turned on him.

Now personally I had a situation close to this in my own first campaign. I had a player who was a guardsmen eject a magazine from his lasgun and toss it into the water. As for handling the situation, by every right my players wanted to just execute him right then and there. Instead, and this shows a lil' leniency on my own part, I had them flog him in the public square. Turns out that helped out as a couple of my characters actually profitted from this by selling tickets to the mob.

Personally. (in game of course) I would drag the pysker into the middle of the village, get 2 people to hold him up and then kick him in the nuts. While he's doubled over in pain I'd then force feed him some raw meat.

Thing don't tend to be as funny when they are happening to you.

It's upto the group leader to keep tabs on everyone and met out punishment as and when it's due.

Still there is always the favorite idea of using an explosive collar on the pysker.

Feral worlders right? I dont see the issue here, Feral worlders are barely above animals on the pecking order of things...

If he wanted to play the jester then he should have been a scum. Have the player strung by both his limbs, and torn apart by two beasts of burden in the middle of the village. Then have the feral worlders eat him as part of some ritual. The icing on the cake however will be when they offer the arbiter a chunk of his friends ass to eat.

I like all of these ideas!

If the arbite is the group leader I'd think he'd be well in his right to schedule a talk with the psyker, himself, and a good sturdy piece of driftwood. The psyker's not only drawing negative attention to himself (which may come to a head when he turns down an alleyway alone and gets mobbed), but he's also drawing attention (negative or not) to their cadre; which isn't what most groups on the sneak want.

If the GM can give him a whallop in character, maybe he'll straighten up. If not, maybe have a chat out of character and see just why this psyker would be acting like that. If you do the ol' corner the bad player and ask him why he's doing that he should straighten up. For abit atleast?

Yay, my first advise post!

Hope it helps!

Have the player strung by both his limbs, and torn apart by two beasts of burden in the middle of the village.

Depending on where you live, this may be illegal. Having the character strung up and torn apart would likely have less severe repercussions - and it wouldn't require you to find beasts of burden.

LMao!

You would think they would be grateful for the free food, being Feral worlders and all....

I think I would have had way too much fun with this if it was my game. Kicking some feral worlders "in the nuts" while shoving meat in their faces sure sounds like some sort of ancient tribal ritual challenge to personal combat. By doing this to multiple people the offender has declared that he is mighty enough to beat ALL of those so targeted. Strip him to a loincloth and toss him in a "Ring of Justice". Bare knuckles against a few very offended feral worlders ought to be amusingly abusive. And if he breaks out with so much as a twitch of Psyk.... "HE'S A WYTCH! BURRRRRNN HIMMMM!"

If he continues to be a snot while in the ring getting the tar beat out of him, have the beating bad enough to cost a permanent Fate point and lower his FEL stat by a D5 due to "Caveman Plastic Surgery".

If that still does not do the trick then the Arbitrator would be clearly justified in putting down the "clearly tainted psyk." Commisar rule is invoked.

honestly if he is doing stupid things he deserves the repercussions of death from a higher ranking officer or getting kicked from the group i had the same problem with a freshman i played with, he was always goofing off in and out of game and the next campaign i started i didnt ask him to come back.

If the player in question is having their character pull stupid crap just because they can, I do believe you will want to get rid of said player if reasoning with him doesn't work. Such players have a nasty tendency of ruining entire campaigns, particularly if they get their hands on a powerful item or placed in a critical situation and especially if such items or situations will affect the other players as well.

Remember that after-action reports are written by the victor.

A few points:

1) If you kill some no name Acolyte, the Inuqusition as a whole isn't going to care at all.

2) Your inquisitor probably isn't going to care that you killed an acolyte unless it was his favourite nephew or something. Especially not if you have a good explanation.

3) In the odd case that you have a master that would care, you can always just lie on the report. Maybe he was showing 'obvious signs of daemonic possession' or maybe the 'locals killed him before we could come to his aid'.

4) Psykers are, by definition, supposed to get a bullet to the back of their head the moment they step out of line. Psykers are highly dangerous tools and the moment they outgrow their usefulness they must be disposed off. With extreme prejudice.

5) In fact, if you report the current events to your inquisitor and the psyker is still around, you could get in trouble for allowing such an unstable sanctionite to live. It is your duty to the Emperor to terminate him before he can threaten the materium! ;)

If the guy is ruining your game by not being serious, have a talk to him. If his PC is doing stupid things in game due to his lack of roleplaying ability then punish him in game. Just remember that the guy might not realize that he is causing grief for the rest of you. And if he does realize then tell him to grow up before comming back...

Bare in mind that the behaviour might come from the player being bored. If he is level 1 and the rest or some of the group are level 5 he might not have much to contribute to the party or the game.

Whenever any of my PC's die their new characters start with a number of experience points equal to their last character. Maybe something to chat to the GM about.

You *are* an arbitrator, yes? Simply look to your no-doubt well-used 'beat' - ahem, I mean of course 'discipline' - stick, and you will know the course that must be followed....

I don't foresee this situation going very well whatever happens.

Depending on the philosophy your Interrogator or Inquisitor follows, you could potentially get away with it.

Psykers are, after all, technically The Mutant.
