K-Wing and TIE Interdictor viability...

By droz69, in X-Wing

I only see this with a revamp of the ordinance system. Torps and Missiles are just too expensive for the most part to be taken, and their one off drawback keeps people from using them. They provide some great alpha's, but their point cost is too high. Any thoughts on what they are going to do?

Until we get some actual preview articles, the most anyone can do is regurgitate one of the countless ordnance fix ideas these forums have produced.

For instance:

Include a new rule card for Missile Secondary Weapons and another for Torpedo Secondary Weapons.

Missiles: When you make an attack with a Missile Secondary Weapon, reduce the target's Agility by 2, to a minimum of 0.

Torpedoes: When you make an attack with a Torpedo Secondary Weapon, increase the target's Agility by 2. If the attack hits, cancel all defensive dice before determining damage.

Or, add a new modification.

Enhanced Guidance Package. When you make an attack with a secondary weapon that requires you to discard the card, you may immediately assign yourself a focus token or acquire a target lock against the target of the attack.

Etc.

The title had me hoping there was some math wing here.

Has a single new ship been released that didn't have any day one viability? The advanced?

It had some viability on Day 1. Hothie won Worlds with a Vader miniswarm. It was as soon as Wave 2 was released that the Advanced kinda fell off the charts in terms of viability.

No idea, but it'll be good. Ordnance has been unviable for ages, they've had a lot of time. I suspect it'll be very, very good.

Shame they're such horrible ships, but if they fix ordnance in such a way that my 10,000 proton torpedo cards become useful then that'll be cool.

Bit early to write them off we arnt even sure of their stats.

Well the K-wing is known for its signature Sunfire-Missiles so I'll be surprised if they don't play a role as new ordnance.
