Wanted to see if anyone else ordered some of these templates and had the 1 and 2 forward be slightly longer than the cardboard that ships with the game.
We're talking very little, here's a few pictures to see what I mean, I lined up the 1 and 2 cardboard on top of the Team Covenant templates. Is this something I should get replaced or since it's so small not worry about it?
I have the TC 2.0 templates and did some comparisons with a first run cardboard template and a later reprint cardboard template and found the TC 2.0 ones to be closer to the first run.
That being said, I expect there to be quite a bit of variance in the cardboard; I suggest comparing it to other players' cardboard templates.
i checked with two different 1 maneuvers of the cardboard, and the TC seem to be just slightly longer, we are talking maybe 1mm or less, I'll get a tape measure or ruler out tomorrow no repost the pictures if I can.
How humid was it? How worn down is the cardboard? All kinds of things will make the cardboard change. The ideal measurements for the movement templates are well known. TC does a good job, I don't think they got them wrong.

no no no. I realize you might be trolling, but unless you sand it down perfectly, then your edges will no longer be square. That, and polishing acrylic is not pleasant.
The straights are pretty straight forward for a manufacturer like TC to get exact, the measurements are as follows
1: 40mm
2: 80mm
3: 120mm
4: 160mm
5: 200mm
I have seen after comparing 5+ card board sets that they can vary, sometimes substantially. The die punches get worn out and likely the manufacturer doesn't use anything with super high precision. FFG knows this, which is why you're technically supposed to use 1 set of templates for both players.
I would trust that the laser cutter TC used got those measurements spot on. I would believe the cardboard was off before the acrylic.

Thanks everyone for replying, it looks like my acrylic was fine all along and my cardboard is short by a MM or two! I'd say I'm quite happy with my Team Covenant templates, I colored then in with White Paint to make the numbers, Symbol and Direction of the templates really pop and they look great.
It's a well known aspect of the die punching process that it cannot be 100% accurate. Laser-cut acrylics are far far more accurate. You can trust the well known template suppliers, such as Applied Perspective, Team Covenant, Greenman, or Cog'o'two to be accurate to the ideal measurement. It would be surprising if one of your cardboard ones was actually correct. As a side example, compare two cardboard rulers to each other, or even the range division lines on the green and red sides of a single ruler, and you will likely not find two the exact same.
