I'm just glad we have the Tooth and Bossk. Finally!
"But you guys, the Hound's Tooth is too big in the EU to be a large ship in X-Wing!"
I think this thread now has 4 different lengths for the Hound's Tooth. All sourced.
The Falcon is 34.75 meters. The Decimator is 38 meters.
If they are using the 47.4 meter size listed on starwars.com, this ship will be nearly 1.5 inches longer the Decimator at 1/270 scale. My guess is that it will be smaller.
The thing is we won't know the scale unless we can see the actual model. Now the thing is the hound's tooth was more of a special edition edit in CGI and it was also a deleted scene. When FFG looked at making the models to scale they actually had sources to match the scale of a Tie Fighter to an X-wing.
Correct me if I am wrong but I think the Hound's Tooth never had a physical model to begin with so that could cause some variance between the different cannon sources for design length.
When was it ever in the Special Edition or in a deleted scene? It was invented for the EU, and so far the only C-level canon ship to be upgraded to G-level canon is the Outrider.
Those canon levels are gone now thanks to Legends. If it has appeared on screen (the movies, Rebels, Clone Wars and eek, the Holiday Special) its canon. Everything else is legends. Hound's Tooth is in thanks to Clone Wars. Its just as canon-ie as an X-Wing now.

Clone Wars and Rebels actually. I think Disney should redo the Hexalogy, tweek the first 3 to fit the true SW ![]()

It also appears in, and is called by name, in the junior novella "Ezra's Gamble"... which I may have read after the Wave VII announcement. Yes, I know the target audience would be middle schoolers, and I regret nothing. And hey, only takes like an hour and a half to read.
Still, the Hound's Tooth has now appeared in two separate canon sources and even its name is also firmly locked into the new canon.
I'm confused as to what is the point of this thread?
(Rereads OP)
Yep, still not getting it, is this like a Gungan Conceptual Art Ritual? The tone sounds like gloating, but the OP doesn't have anything to actually gloat about... so confused.

There were people that pretty strongly believed we would never get the Hound's Tooth because sources listed it at a size too big. Clearly the official size is smaller, or FFG decided to break their scale and shrunk it down a bit.

I think its a little bit unfair for the OP to make the comments he has regarding previous comments on the topic. From most evidence prior to the unveiling of the new model a majority of the evidence pointed towards the ship being in the awkward zone, too big for 1/270 scale at the purported 62m length and too small to be shrunk to 1/480 for epic.
The most definitive evidence in my mind was not a simple dimension but rather the fact that whatever the size of the ship the lore states that a Z95 fits inside the ship (most likely I believe in the 'lump' on the nose of the ship).
Now it is quite clear that the size of the model displayed at the convention will not fit a "to scale" 1/270 Z95 into it.
This would speak to the fact that the ship has been shrunk for the purposes of this game, as the only other option would be that the lore has been changed with the accommodation of the "Pup" being removed from the ship.
either way it doesn't matter as whats done is done but the "Na na na na na you were wrong" insinuation in the OP is a bit off in my humble opinion.
For my 2 cents, I'm glad that we get it as I love the ship, but I was of the opinion that it was too big, lets just say that I was pleasantly surprised that I will get to play it in standard play as I have little interest in epic (if in fact it was made into an epic size instead).
Edit:
and now ironically, the preview article has com up with a "Nashtal Pup" pilot card!! Maybe its an Origami Z95
Edited by Mace WinduThey also specify that it is at the 1/270 scale.
