The K-wing AKA "The Homer"

By gamblertuba, in X-Wing

The western alphabet is called basic, which is the Galaxy-wide language. :P

Nope youngling.

An alphabet is not a language.

English (speech) is called Basic. Alphabet is Aurebesh.

And High Galactic is the western alphabet.

And High Galactic is the western alphabet.

You know what I meant anyway. :)

Back on topic, I want all the alphabet wings. Even the horrific looking h wing. Just because.

For those that aren't digging the k-wing, why not proxy an arc 170 from shapeways instead?

Was thinking about it, actually. The only issue is the ARC-170 doesn't really have a turret, it would be more of a front and rear-arc design.

IIRC in episode IV where Ben is powering down the Death Star tractor beam, one of the displays reads "Power Level" in English.

Right. That's high galactic, which is apparently the ancient poetic language of the galaxy. It was probably there to showcase the Death Star employees' high level of achieved literacy.

If it's got a front arc/rear arc, isn't that the same effect of a turret? It's not like X-wing takes into account the verticle plane like some of the WW1/2 tabletop games.

It's an ancient alphabet, and in that scene it was there because Fox didn't think the audience would understand that Obi-wan was turning off the tractor beam generators (the the thing he said he was going to turn off a few scenes before) unless it was clearly spelled out to audiences.

It was digitally replaced with Aurebesh for the DVD editions.

I stand by everything I've said about the K-Wing though. It's ugly and ridiculous. FFG's modelers may be incredibly talented, I have no doubt that they are, I love the models I've spent my hard-earned money on, but at the end of the day, a polished turd is still a turd.

True you can't polish a turd. But you can roll it in glitter.

Sparkly!!!
