My guess is this:
The action allows you to fire as though you had a turret 360 arc. Possibly even allowing you to fire secondary weapons through it?
Do you guys think the two are related?

The ship already has a 360 arc as indicated on the template. It's the same as the large turret ships.
My guess, as I had read by someone else, is that it increases the attack if you attack in arc. Or, it's some type of SLAM action, whatever they meant by that.

Oh I'll be super mad if SLAM is here without the Missile Boat.
SLAM: Sub Light Acceleration Motor. A strap on booster engine. A "Boost" Action that uses the 2 bank/strait template.
Give the ship a dial that's a tad worse than a Y-Wing (with no speed 4 or K Turn at all), then let it use the SLAM to makeup for the lack of speed/maneuver.
You have to wonder when the FFG rep said X-Wings were going to get a "boost" in a future expansion...An Aces box with an X-Wing that has a Title card allowing a SLAM to be installed.
Hopefully very restricted tech though.
I've wagered it boosts attack die. Spend an action to get a third die, or fire your two with a TL/F. Choose one, but not both. Seems good enough to me.
Is there a decent picture of the new action icon? It might be easier to guess what it does if we knew what the icon was a picture of.
SLAM drive. Modification (system?)
K wing (missile boat!) only
When you acquire a target lock you may perform a free boost action. If you do, reduce the defender's agility by one if you attack a ship for which you have a blue target lock token this turn.
You cannot attack with your primary weapon this turn.
SLAMs make missiles hit and make you go fast. They don't make them hit harder and draw power from the laser. I think this captures that theme.
I could see it being SLAM. The K-wing and Missile Boat are the two ships that had it.
I thought SLAM was Submarine launched Land Attack Missile?

It looked like the turret symbol was only in the primary arc, but I guess there really isn't a lot of room on the small ship dial to put the full turret icon.
Actually. Just reading this thread insight struck. And I feel pretty good about it. Here's what I think it will give you a token. And I think the pack will come with some mods that let you give that action type to other ships
Is it possible to be a boost in the combat phase instead? Really trying to be or if the box.

You'd be spending your action to not actually increase your damage output, and actually reducing it if you're at range 1.

It's an action, that means it's done in the "perform action step" just like all other actions.
I have faith in FFG that's actually going to be something new and innovative like cloaking was instead of just a derivative of actions we've already seen. I'd be disappointed if it was "boost, but with these templates instead".
I am in considering three options in order
1) SLAM - boost in combat phase
2) Fire two ordnance (might be supported in title/modifications cards too)
3) Fire ordnance and turret at same target
If the ship is noted for quick bursts of extreme speed then a boost like action with a bigger template seems most likely.
The punisher has a regular boost action, perhaps the k-wing likewise has a speed burst, but instead of the flexibility of 3 directions it has a larger straight forward action.
The base makes it pretty clear that it has some sort of 180 firing arc. Obliviously this unclear as to if this is a all the time thing or if it has to take an action or what.

What ship? The hounds tooth has a 180 auxiliary arc, the k-wing has the regular turret icon.

Disagree. You'd probably diminish your statistical damage output. In reality, it gives you the possibility of doing more damage overall. And perhaps you're flying it with Dutch and/or Garven. More dice, more potential damage.

you can give x wings boost with engine upgrade
O_o
