If you don't like Wave 7...

By Wondergecko, in X-Wing

...The solution is quite simple. Vote with your wallet.

FFG does read these forums, and certainly realizes that the K-wing and TIE Interdictor/Punisher were controversial/oft-mocked ships, and also knows that some other ships (which I won't name so as to not cause further debate) were 'fan favorites'. So, if you don't like some of the ships from Wave 7, let them know by not buying them.

P.S.: Not asking for an argument, or a flame war centered about the aesthetic or qualitative merit of these ships, just offering a solution for those who are less than thrilled. No need to get mad, or give up the game, just don't purchase what you don't like. Cheers!

I still don't get the hate of the Intesher, I'm having so much nostalgia right now.

yeah, guys, a lot of these ships are ugly. i HATE the y-wing. but its really good at what it does, and the pilots are good.

same for the syck. its looks like a potato that someone slapped wings on. but man does it carryy a cannon.

Depending on the way the munitions fix is implemented, though, people may feel that they have to buy ships that they don't want just to get the necessary cards for their existing ships.

That's the way X-wing's always worked though.

First impression of Wave 7. Cant say yet about like of dislike. Miniature designs are OK, not something that sticks out. We have some of the stats and the available actions. As far as the effectiveness of the ships we will have to see their dials and what new cards or upgrades are available. I was hoping for ships that were true dogfighters, but not this time. Looking at the stats it would seem that the point values will lean toward them being flown in the 2 or 3 ship build. Not sure that even if they have an improved torpedo package that the cost will be viable to include the torpedo upgrade in the typical 100 point game.

They could look like a turd with wings for all I care. If they bring something new and interesting to the game, I'll love them.

Agreed if they arnt your cup of tea don't buy them just don't rage on people that do.

You can get the cards other ways if there is something you need.

Moan all you want on the forums just don't go overboard the ships are designed now they will come out there's not alot to be done about it.

Voting with your wallets won't work in this case unless you do quit X-wing. Every ship you buy goes to the same place, so for every decent ship you buy, you subsidize the ones you hate. Plus, most people will want the cards enough to stomach buying ships they'll never fly (star viper anyone?). So, this is one of the few cases where voting with your dollars probably won't work a bit.

And Hobo, I'm going to take you up on the moaning. Holy cow this was a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible decision. I can't believe a design team actually agreed to produce a K-wing. The mind boggles.

You are not supposed to hate STAR WARS SHIPS!

:D

I'm more shocked at the punisher i'm now 4/5 for my predictions instead of 5/5 people will start to doubt my powers.

Thankfully there isn't a single Star Wars ship in the new release, so I don't have to worry about hating SW ships.

Well you couldn't have known they'd produce something that lame. Really, it's not your fault at all.

First off I take this statement as saying nothing in this wave is canon, but the Hound's Tooth is in TCW which is very much SW.

Well, I don't actually hate the Hound's Tooth. I've been too focused on the K-wing. The TIE monstrosity is pretty bad too. The Kihraxz is a poor, poor decision. They absolutely should have gone with the Dunelizard or the Vaksai instead. Both way cooler, and the Dunelizard makes way more logical sense. Not sure why they made that call. The K-wing is the only one I truly despise with every fiber of my being. But I see no reason to purchase any of them. And I hate the K-wing so much I may just not play the game rather than see it on tables.

The Interdictor makes sense actually. Dual bomb systems and dual missile systems. System redundancy.

EDIT: I like the Kihraxz, but I'm not a big fan of the version FFG went with.

I'm not a huge assault whatever-boat fan, but the Missileboat would have been the right call in this instance, I think. As it is, the Interdictor doesn't make me cringe, I just don't much care for it. Then again, I didn't much like the original TIE bomber either.

I'm driven by nostalgia from GBG to not like.

GBG?

GBG?

The TIE Interdictor Punisher is drawn from a real-time strategy game for PC called Galactic Battlegrounds.

I actually like the Star Viper, but then Shadows of the Empire just coming out was a thing when I was 10-11 and first discovering Star Wars, so that may influence things a bit. In the same way I'm a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to the Punisher, when I have no problem with the TIE Defender, because again I spent a large chunk of the 90s playing TIE Fighter.

That said, at least the Defender looks aggressive, and not just like someone glued a bunch of broken TIE bombers together. And the less said about the K-wing the better. As I said elsewhere, if the ordnance fixes included are good, I'll be grudgingly buying enough to get a hold of them, but the ships will likely be getting tucked away while I use the fixes with everything else I already own.

And GBG is Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, the video game that gave us the Punisher, then called the Interdictor, because they needed something at the end of the TIE Bomber tech tree.

Depending on the way the munitions fix is implemented, though, people may feel that they have to buy ships that they don't want just to get the necessary cards for their existing ships.

Yep, I’ve been having this problem since Wave 6.

Based on the initial reaction to Wave 7, I have a feeling I’ll have to buy these expansions anyways since the secondary market for the bomb/torpedo/missile fixes will be crazy.

Thankfully there isn't a single Star Wars ship in the new release, so I don't have to worry about hating SW ships.

It's like that f-15 with the canards and thrust vectoring. Assuming the f-15 was a tie bomber. (Don't worry, the mass scale missile boat will follow it soon)

I'm just grumpy about the K-wing. Worst ship ever...
