They Actually Made The TIE interdictor?!

By TIE Pilot, in X-Wing

TIE/pn might be better.

Yeah... But TIE/Pu is just... Well, it's funnier.

I seem to be the only one who actually likes both the interdictor and the scimitar, so I was going to be pretty happy with either.

The k-wing though.... Close to the ugliest ship I have seen in sci fi.

You haven't seen much Sci-Fi, have you?

Probably more than you.

The K-wing isn't the prettiest ship ever, but it's certainly not as ugly as some other ships (aka Hound's tooth...)

I'm a huge xwing fan, but this wave. ...... sucks. The tie punisher is unin spires garbage that would seem at first glance to make the bomber obsolete. Most of the EU tie variants are awful, and this one is no exception. A lot of people wanted the hounds tooth, so, ok. Not personally a fan but to each their own. We have another scum fighter (did we need one between the ywing, z95, and the syck?) and it wasn't even something like the blast boat, that would have been logical. No assault gunboat for the empire? This tie abomination instead? That is a golden opportunity missed. Which brings us to the kwing...... enough said. Only ship in looking forward to is the raider. I've bought a lot of every wave so far, but not this time. Pass.

Looks like we have reached the point where we are scraping the bottom of the barrel for ships.

I'll continue to play this great game with what I have. Looks like I'll finally have money to spend on other things now. Really disappointed.

Bye! You'll be missed, of course, because nobody can afford to lose customers. But it's only been a few hours, and I'm already incredibly frustrated with the apparently large number of people who have already decided there's nothing here for them.

Yeah, it is. I know there are others, but off the top of my head, the only ship I can think of that is stupider looking is the tie experimental m1.

Wave 8: TIE Po

Wave 9: TIE Clip

I disagree, it has a sort of Panzer 1 look to it. It looks alright.

Tie Interdictor is cabbage tier though.

I don't mind the look of the K Wing but I can understand why someone wouldn't like it.

Why not make the Scimitar if you wanted a cool bomber?

Because Scimitar is one of the ugliest things in the whole Star Wars universe? :D My point is - it looks very weird, I personally hate it and if they had to expand on the bomber types, I'd rather see them go this route, because it is consistent with other imperial craft more than a flying flashlight/phallus with tiny wings.

Edit: And it's going to look fantastic when supported by a couple regular bombers! :D

I actually like the scimitar despite it's phallic-ness. Much better looking IMO than the Punisher/Interdictor.

Storyline wise, the Scimitar has also done much more than the Punisher/Interdictor.

Ugly is the TIE Oppressor. That third afterthought wing and the unnecessary under-bits make it an affront to the largely symmetrical and streamlined designs of the TIE Family. Scimitar has the TIE Wings, cockpit pod, and not much else that makes it feel over-designed.

The Interdictor just screams lazyness in design. They didn't even try to change the arrangements, the pod, the wings, or anything. It is just as it is: four ordnance pods glued to a cockpit pod and wings. I can't abide lazy design.

Agree with this completely.

Hound's Tooth is pretty fugly too. Never liked Dengar's ship either, though I figure we were due to get minimum one of them in S&V.

To be honest if it looks good, I see no reason for changes for the sake of changes themselves. There's only so much you can do about a floating orb with some wings, so it's either modifying the basic aspects (bent wings, interceptor panels, added bomb compartment) or try to come up with something new and original and end up with a terrible, terrible piece that you should be repeatedly smacked with a rolled newspaper for like Oppressor, Scimitar, Aggressor and Sentinel where you can see that they were tryharding -way- too much to come up with something new and it often leaves you with "just... why?" question ringing in your head.

The only two good-looking overcomplicated TIE designs in my opinion are Phantom (although it's stretching it a little) and Defender.

It's just my opinion, mind you. I'm not trying to enforce it on anyone, but I think that if the current design works and it can be modified (even if it looks somewhat lazy), I think it's better to have more visually consistent ships than something that's so drastically different and less likely that majority will like it. I mean... if you like bombers, you won't mind Punisher. But you might dislike Scimitar because it looks like phallic, modern-times satellite, just with solar panels running along the hull. :)

I don't know why people are hating this ship so much, and I especially don't get why they want the Scimitar. The Scimitar strikes me as the uglier ship and from a design point of view just doesn't fit with other Imperial ships. Also, the Punisher is going to be a heavy bomber. Does no-one else get excited to see how FFG use it to fix the current bombers in the game and add new cards and maybe new weapons? This thing is probably going to be a tank - slow moving, but tough as hell and dealing out serious damage. I can't wait to get my hands on it

Asthetics aside, I prefer the Scimitar because it actually does stuff in the EU.

I was going to photoshop 10 extra pods for the wave 8 super-interdictor, but as this has already been done, I have another idea.

How appropriate would it be, to make an imperial gunboat model and use it with the interdictor ruleset? Wookiepedia says the gunboat is 10meters vs basic tie bomber's 7.8, which seems about right. They both have shields and strong hull. Can the gunboat take bombs?

They'll change they're mind when they see the actual sculpts, and the upgrade cards, and the ship cards, and they'll slowly come around. Unless they are the type that kinda died off after they stopped producing OT ships and went into the EU.

I'll be buying less this wave than previous waves though - likely a couple of kihraxz, not sure if ill need more than one punisher or k-wing, depends on upgrades and point costs. wonder when we will get our first previews?

This is exactly why FFG should wait to announce new waves until a month before release...

No, but the Missile Boat can.

This.

A million times this.

I know it's not an FFG-original design, but seriously, guys, it's just ugly. It looks like it was knocked together too quickly by a lazy video game designer who realized he was supposed to have a new model done by Friday, and it's Friday morning and he hasn't even started one.

Seems a bit harsh, I fail to see how the Punisher looks like a more rushed design than the original bomber. Besides, designers of warmachines can seldomly put aesthetics at the top of their priority list. Nebulon B's or Correllian gunships aren't pleasing to the eye either, but it merely underlines the functionality that the designers wanted them to express.

Wait, we're ragging on the Punisher as silly looking but saying *this* is cool?

Scimitar-Assault-Bomber-side.jpg

Ooookay.

Yup.

That looks like a big ol' wang.

Storywise neither have done anything yet.

I don't get that people think this will replace the tie bomber, if anything it'll make it useable in its intended role.

Yeah the k wing is fugly but rebels are running out of ships it was this or the h-wing.

We may finally have useable ordinance in the game that's a good thing.

Nebulon B's or Correllian gunships aren't pleasing to the eye either, but it merely underlines the functionality that the designers wanted them to express.

The Nebulon B to me looks more aesthetic than functional. All of the mass is severely front loaded, with all of the trust joined by a narrow connection point. While there's no gravity in space, momentum will still wreck your day. But in either case, I think the NebB looks cool.

Why not make the Scimitar if you wanted a cool bomber?

This thread can be summed up with this one statement. Screw the lame-ass designed Interdictor and all hail the Scimitar. Also: Thrawn. 'Nuff said.

Curious: FFG called this ship the TIE Interdictor in their own product (the Age of Rebellion Stay on Target RPG expansion). Why do you think they changed the name?

Hound's Tooth is pretty fugly too. Never liked Dengar's ship either, though I figure we were due to get minimum one of them in S&V.

Yeah, I agree the tooth isn't terribly attractive. It's basically a box with weird wings though so, meh.

I actually like the tie interdictor.

The kihraxz I think looks pretty cool.

The k-wing though is the first miniature making me think I need to find an alternative sculpt just to play with it.
