They Actually Made The TIE interdictor?!

By TIE Pilot, in X-Wing

Wait, hold on, what?

Hold on, _what?_

An Ordnance based TIE but... No... No Missile Boat?

Buh?

They can't add the Assault Gunboat (at least, not the one featured in X-Wing / TIE Fighter).

Licensing issues. :|

Gotta love IP shenanigans.

Source? Because its in the RP. Even has art.

Wait, doesn't this game already have a big problem with most torpedoes/bombs/missiles not being worth their points? Why would they add a TIE Bomber Advanced when nobody takes the original TIE Bomber?

I take the Tie bomber

So's the Interdunisher.

So that they can reasonably include the cards that will FIX ordnance.

That's like asking why they are including a tie advanced in the raider because no one plays tie advanceds.

Wave 7 is designed to fix that. That's why they released two Super Bombers: so they can release a ton of cards.

Interested as to how the Super Bombers work mechanically though given the TIE bomber already has more weapon slots than you could ever reasonably use. The Interdictor's got to feel like it's packing four times the firepower.

It'll have four torpedo and four missile slots!

Okay, so I really need to know what will distinguish the triple bomber from the standard issue double bomber. They seem a bit similar :P

I do believe I might fly these guys just because they're so loveably ugly

Punisher looks like half an Interdictor.

It is the Interdictor. It's got all four pods.

Pentuple bomber. It has four ordnance pods and the cockpit.

Less agility, more health, we think shields, boost instead of barrel, and probably price and a ton of firepower.

That's the other gripe with the new TIE: Bowelmovement announced today.

The TIE Bomber we have 'feels' right for a bomber, it has a versatile number of upgrade slots - certainly, already more than you'd need - and the amount of sturdiness you'd expect.

And then this guy comes along with four times as many weapon pods. It's...like, WTF, seriously?

If the Punisher actually has a 3 Primary attack....****. That's reason right there. They're going to release some stellar upgrades, stuff that will still help the older ships too, but the point cost and basic model of the Punisher are probably going to make it worth taking anyway.

Also the Punisher might be the platform for the oft-called-for "don't discard ordnance" upgrade/modification.

And then this guy comes along with four times as many weapon pods. It's...like, WTF, seriously?

Well it is for long range missions against Rebel bases where ISDs can't get in close. It has that many pods because it needs the space.

That, and so the explosion's real pretty when you blow it up.

Imma stick a Dead Man's Switch in each pod and fly right at Howlrunner.

The poor bomber, all it wanted was to be loved, but his big brother comes along and takes all the attention.

What I don't get about the K-wing is that it has no less than 7 air intakes. For what purpose? The other thing is that is has all these bolted on missiles and torpedoes, only that is not how SW ordnance has ever worked.

I see boost, tl, and focus. Though what is curious though is that the K-wing has what looks to be a new action, and the punisher does not.

Why not make the Scimitar if you wanted a cool bomber?

This.

A million times this.

I know it's not an FFG-original design, but seriously, guys, it's just ugly. It looks like it was knocked together too quickly by a lazy video game designer who realized he was supposed to have a new model done by Friday, and it's Friday morning and he hasn't even started one.

If I clicked like buttons, I would complain about only being able to do so once.

only that is not how SW ordnance has ever worked.

The LAAT/i has a pod gun like the K-wing's (two actually) and the Tri-fighter has underslung missiles like the K-wing.

It's actually quite a clever design that's used on real jets: no need to worry about different ordnance not fitting in the tube.

Lots to worry about those missiles being physically hit though.

And? I want a source that they cant make a mini of the Assault Gunboat for IP reasons.

Those that do evil too others, the Rebels, the Gangsters, Psychos, will come to know me well!!!

Oh and since it carries four times the ordinance of a TIE Bomber it would carry...

80 Proton Bombs, 80 free falling thermal detonators, 40-80 orbital mines, 20-40 Proton Torpedoes/Concussion missiles or 8-12-20 Proton Rockets.

Good old Frank Castle!!! This isn't vengeance, its Punishment.

Inteshers are my favorite Imperial bomber

Inteshers are my favorite Imperial bomber

Not that high praise given there are only three: the TIE punisher, the TIE bomber and the Thrawn one people seem to like instead which would be most accurately called the TIE exogorth pleasurer.

Hey... they called this craft the TIE interdictor in the RPG! And they changed the name here?

There is one cardinal reason why the TIE Interdictor Punisher is worse than the TIE Scimitar, and that's because the TIE Interdictor is a copy-paste job.

Even the TIE Oppressor, which I hate, brings custom components to the design by changing the wing shapes and adding custom bits. This? This is a frankstein effort of stitching more guns on to a ship for the simple sake of fulfilling a stupid mechanic in a largely forgettable game.

I'm not sure if I should be more disappointed in LFL for dictating this design, or for FFG making one Imperial release of the wave. If this combination keeps up, we're gonna get 2 scum ships per wave and make it highly possible for Empire and Rebel players to get dud entries just like this. What's next, Wave 8 gives us the TIE Oppressor? Or the TIE Raptor, or an Ugly??

I was going to jump to Armada until the Imperial releases for X-Wing got more interesting... but if this is the future of X-Wing my stay in Armada might be longer. When I have to choose between scum and badly designed wunderwaffen and driving Star Destroyers, it's not a hard decision.

Atleast it isn't an ugly ship like the Scimitar. And don't hate SWGBG. Please don't.

TIE Punisher is a logical bomber- its literally the improved bomber. Twin-linked missiles that are more likely to hit, shields, this thing will be a good addition. Hopefully it brings some mods/titles that help out the regular bomber.

I wonder if the change in name signals something else...like an Interdictor cruiser for Armada in the future?
