You beat me to posting this because I pulled my hamstring doing an extended (Imperial) happy dance.
Skirmish wave 1. A non-unique unit for each faction and enough skirmish maps to last an OP season.

A side mission. Probably a grey one unless the pack comes with new deployment cards, although I think the main push is to allow you to run more Stormtroopers in skirmish without having to buy more Cores.

Pretty big “meh” announcement for me.
Mind you, I’ve only played the campaign thus far and these expansions are clearly catering to the skirmish crowd.
Isn’t there a campaign rule saying you can’t use groups outside the core set? Or am I mistaken?
If anything, I would pick up the hired guns pack just to spice up the mercenary faction but I wouldn’t even think twice about them if I can’t bring them into the core campaign.

There's a component limitation meaning if you do buy those troopers you can't run 3 regulars in your open group. When you buy the villain packs for campaign you will be using the agenda cards, which will most likely include the hired guns as a side mission reward.

There is, although the thing about campaigns is they aren't competitive, so you could use the new stuff and the surplus if you all agreed on it.
But yeah, IA doesn't make you buy packs the same way Armada and X-wing do: if you're cool with tokens it gives you tokens.

Agendas reward unique units usually. I'd imagine these guys (the Hired Guns) are either in Twin Shadows or they're allowed as deployment cards whenever. Could be an Agenda though, although that'd make four bounty hunter agenda sets For The Right Price (Wanted), Soldiers for Hire (Boba Fett), Droid Uprising (IG-88) and the new one for these guys.

While I'd be inclined to agree I can't imagine the campaign having a mission to unlock more storm troopers. Or maybe it will include an Agenda deck focused on upgrading Trooper units.
