Can a Character with a Bounty on His Head get a Bounty Hunters Licence?

By RodianClone, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

One of the Characters in the game I am running, a smuggler gunslinger, has taken the gadgeteer specilization as well and has applied for a bounty hunter guild-membership and an Imperial Peace-Keeper Certificate.

The thing is that a criminal organization has a bounty on his head. I guess this could be with other guilds or just and open bounty and it won`t matter because it`s not an imperial bounty.

What do you think?

As long as it's not for being wanted by the authorities I don't see why not. Of course I think I'd have my head on a swivel or be wearing my glasses and mustache disguise when I walked into the office to apply for it . ....

Haha, funny! But he applied by email on the hypernet...

License to kill by email, I love it...

Well, he is on a trial period, so he only has a licence to capture.

Gotcha, kidnapping learner's permit....

That`s right!... Anywho, are there better names for a galaxy internet equivalent than the hypernet? Does something already exist?.. If not, hypernet is good enoug for our game.

Bounty Hunting Licence by email, Just send 10,000 credits to this account...

Sounds like a scam to me. :P

Um...would you really want to scam an entire guild of highly skilled bounty hunters who carry grudges, sanction dead or alive bounties, and have a heck of a lot of imperial pull?

Eh... looks legit.

Many novels within the EU/Legends call it the Holonet, presumably since everything could be displayed in full 3-dimensional holograms. Resolution not guaranteed though...

I would definitely give it a try.. Formidable Deception roll? Boost for me since it sounds completely legit?

Sure. Then he can clone himself and quickly turn a profit on his first kill. :)

I like to think that the Imperial Peacekeepers and Bounty Hunting Guilds are two separate entities which regulate themselves. If you've got a bounty on you by a Hutt (presumably to be executed by the guilds), you can probably get a certificate from the Imperials and take Imperial Bounties just fine.

FYI the holonet is no longer public access. Imagine it as being like the internet in china where no one but the officials are allowed on it. You can plug in and view what they allow. Like holodramas that are imperial propaganda and news broadcasts that are propaganda. Some slicers can hack it and broadcast. Kinda like ISIS did in France.

I imagine it varies from guild to guild. Imperial operating guilds might care and some really professional guilds might screen new recuits and provide a certain degree of legal protection from those who have obtained bounties opperating within their interests. Some of the scummier bounty hunting guilds might not really care, long as they earn reviune and it doesn't interfer with their opperations it's cool. And it also depends where said bounty has come from, if a Hutt has issued it, then the greater imperial establishment probably won't care and visa versa. Unless one has such a high bounty that they are publically wanted and thus too much baggage to keep hold of.
