The Source - Ability Clarification

By dwaynedauzat, in Imperial Assault Campaign

In "The Source" mission:

Under the "Opportune Moment" section, the second option says to resolve the "Order" ability of the captured officer. However, the captured officer is an ELITE Imperal Officer and has the special ability, "Executive Order," which differs from the "Order" ability of a REGULAR Imperial Officer. I assume that I am supposed to resolve the "Order" ability of a REGULAR Imperal Officer an not the "Executive Order" of the actual ELITE Imperial Officer that is in play. I just find the instructions to be a little muddy at times and was hoping someone could clarify this for me please. Also, is there any place that lists all such abilities for easy reference? I couldn't find anything in the RRG and I just find it a little odd to have to look up an ability for one particular figure from the deployment card of a different figure. I could just be nitpicking though.

I would rule that:

The "Order" ability be changed to "Executive Order" in the mission rules. The captured officer does not have the "Order" ability, so it may not perform it. I would also submit this to FFG so they can update this in the next FAQ

As for a database of all deployment cards, abilities and command cards, I always use

I would rule that:

I considered this too, but ruled against it for the following reason:

I was thinking that the fourth option under Opportune Moment had the same effect as "Executive Order" for the price of 1 threat and I didn't see the reasoning for spending 1 threat when I could just perform "Executive Order" instead for free. However, I see now that the difference is "1 move AND 1 attack" versus "a move OR attack."

I agree with you now that the correct ruling should be to perform "Executive Order" from the captured Elite Imperial Officer in play. For me, this only means that the Rebels should have lost sooner than they did and it makes this mission only the more impossible for them to win.

Thanks for the IACOMMAND link.

Can the heroes interact with the officer anywhere on the board? We just got done with this mission and once the 3rd door was opened the heroes used their combined 8 actions to move the officer across the board to the terminal and interact with it. As the imperial player, I felt completely helpless as the captured officer sprinted across the board of the last possible turn and won the mission.

The rebels have to be adjacent to the officer in order to interact with him. It is your job to use Nexu to block them to wait it the time limit and let the Royal guards do their grisly work.
