played a little of The Force Unleashed 2 today and saw these running around with y-wings, z-95's and a-wings.

any idea what it is?

R-41 Starchasers. Not a bad ship for what it is.....quite old and outdated, but spot on for Rebel use in the period the Force Unleashed is set in. Nice find!

any chance we see it in game? the wookiepedia mentions its use in pirate organizations and black sun. even has 3 named pilots, though one of them was mara jade.

my biggest complaint with scum is that they dont have a high-teen, low 20's fighter that can compete with the x wing, outside the y-wing. seems like this ship could fit there.

It would be similar to Z95. Maybe, but what makes it unique?

it seems to have had cannons but it was noted for its low hull/shield rating. we already have that in the scyk. looks like it had low maneuverability too. hmm. seems it had a reputation for being reliable. there was also a 2 seater version.

so thats what, 3 cons and 3 pros?

It would at least have a cannon slot, which would add something. But it would still be quite close to a Z / Heavy Scyk hybrid at that point. Unfortunately i'm not sure i can see a role for it that isn't already covered, especially in Scum.

Maybe in Rebels as a low cost cannon platform similar to the Heavy Scyk. But thats about it.

A Z-95 with a cannon slot and optional crew slot, and I'd give it one more hull as I seem to recall it being a bit tougher to kill than a Z-95.

The r-41 is basically a z-95 with a canon. It would also have an r-42 title (modification?) that let it take crew.

so something like

2 attack

2 evade

3 hull

1 shield

cannon slot, crew slot.

pilot skills at 1,3,6 and 7?

I was thinking more like this:

Attack: 2

Agility: 2

Hull: 3

Shields: 2

Actions: Target Lock, Focus

Slots: Cannon, Missile, Illicit (R-42 title provides a Crew slot)

It would be the only cheap Scum fighter capable of taking a Crew slot other than the HWK.

More crew would be cool.

I think the starchaser would be good for rebels a cheaper cannon ship with less durability than the b-wing but more bite than the headhunter.

Well then why field the Headhunter? The R-41 doesn't really have much of a Rebel service record either. I mean, it was there, but it definitely wasn't a mainstay.

It was before incom defected and gave them the x-wing, they used whatever they could get.

And it would be 14-16 points still leaving room for the headhunter as cheap filler ship but would offer cheaper control than the b-wings.

Starchaser? Take a Z-95, increase its health a little, either up its dial to TIE fighter quality or give it a native boost. Before the X-wing it was the Y-wings that had the punch.

They do. The thing about low 20s fighters is they usually come with a few upgrades: the Y-wing for example usually has the Agromech on it for Scum and the B-wing's got its sensors. This means you're usually actually sitting around 23 to 25 rather than 21.

Scum have a very nice 25pt fighter in the form of the StarViper. Same health, one more agility, reposition actions if you want to block, much better maneuverability.... If you stop thinking of it as solely an arc dodger the basic StarViper's a nice buy in my opinion.

I'd love to see the R-41 Starchaser in the game as a Rebel ship. It was in X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, which is what I grew up playing.

is probably a bit too tough though... that's X-Wing durability. I'd be more in favour of the following, as their hulls were pretty rubbish (according to Wookiepedia) and they were on par with Z-95s in terms of overall durability in XvsT:

Cannon slot and Missile slot would seem appropriate. Base cost would depend on how good the dial was, but I'd expect 14 points would be appropriate.

R-42 title (1 point?) to give a crew slot also seems sensible.

2213 would work I think :)

so... with 2-2-1-3 stats, wouldn't that make it "one-shot"able with Ion Cannons (which bypass Shields)?

Except that they don't.

Where the heck did you get that idea?

Ion shots don't bypass shields. But you're right, it could be one-shotted by anything that deals a damage card directly to the hull. I don't think it's likely to occur often!

Proton Bombs would be it's bane.

One hull does seem a bit iffy. The wiki mentioned that they had low hull, but that only was an issue to very precise firing.

The bigger problem is yes, lack of a role that isn't being filled.
