Star Wars Battlefront

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in X-Wing

I hear no space battles. That's really disappointing.

Incredibly so, since originally they were saying seamless space to atmospheric. Without that it's actualyl kinda meh.

I am still excited for this game... but now I'm gone from OMG!*!@* (!@BATLFRUNT!! to..."should be fun".

I actually have no issue dogfighting in the atmosphere with Star Wars ships. If it's the Battlefield people, I'll be able to use stick and rudder, which will be great. Plus, think about using snowspeeders on Hoth versus TIE fighters. Could be super fun.

Yeah I am in this camp.

it's no longer I need to buy an xbox one, whereas now it's. I hope Halo5 will be good...

No campaign really bummed me out. I mean, I knew it was a possibility, but now that it's just the way it is... I dunno anymore. I was excited, but I may just skip Battlefront entirely now, there will most definitely be other Star Wars games that will suit me better.

No Campaign either???

Next someone will be saying no bots, in which case there's no point. (Co-op gamer here prefer fighting in a unit with friends as i get overly dickish after too much online gaming).

Given the crashed SSD Jakku's probably a space battle. But to be fair, you've got starfighter battles on all four maps.

EA's famed for being thick but they're not that thick. It's got single player. Given it caps at 40 players they'll probably always have bots.

I knew there wouldn't be a campaign and am actually happy about it. That means there isn't any time and effort wasted on a campaign version. It's all online play.

As for space battles, it would never be X-wing vs. Tie Fighter. They just need to make a separate game for that. I didn't know what people expected on that front.

I never expected the game to be OMG!!!!! I do expect Battlefield in Star Wars.

I'd be excited but I've played EA games before.

As I understand it battlefield four still isn't 100% even now.

With no campaign and no space battles I just see it as "well I guess EA are rushing for a release in time for the movie and give no ***** in making a truly great game for it's own merits".

How'd you make a good campaign for four maps though? They said they've got single player missions for those maps (or something close to that) but not a campaign.

Also, Battlefront 1 didn't have a campaign. It just had a string of loosely connected Instant Action maps.

To be honest, I can easily deal with no campaign in order to have the main gameplay done to its best. It's got four maps, but it looks like those four maps will be incredible.

They're been making this for the same amount of time that Episode 7 has been in production. It's not rushed.

It has split screen 2 player.. Do you know how many games DO NOT have that anymore. I remember so many years ago when my little brother and I played Battlefront split screena ganst each other. Now, I can play with my sons on the same screen and have that memory as well. I expected half the stuff they said with EA making it, However BF4 is a excellent game. I have full faith in Dice to put out a excellent game. Will it be another Evolve? no,no it will not. WIll it be Halo OMFG THIS IS great maybe not,but..We are getting a Battlefront game...I am happy with that alone.

Campaign you can make semi short ones. missions taking part over part of the map.

Still BF 1 is true.. The lack of space combat hurts more, and part of the big deal is orbit to atmo combat. I loves my dropships!

Battlefront along with Halo5 will probably sell the Xbox one for me, and so far that console just doesn't have enough going for it to make it worth buying.

Bloodborne was enough to sell me a PS4, and I've always been an Xbox man.

Git Gud! I'm just kidding of course! Love me some Bloodborne (and I'm gonna go back and revisit DS soon). As for Battlefront, I hope its good, the trailer looked great but I'm worried since EA's name is on it. Hopefully I'll be surprised.

Better no campaign than a half assed one.

Anyone else find that phrasing interesting. Republic.

New information on the post Endor period. Looks like the NR's back.

Fight for the Rebellion or Empire in a wide variety of multiplayer matches for up to 40 players, or in exciting challenges inspired by the films available solo, split-screen or through online co-op.

Sounds like it has single player missions, playable co-op, even if it lacks a campaign.

Got to say though, loving (relatively speaking) EA's new attitude to preorder bonuses. It's DLC earlier, not "don't preorder and NEVER get the preorder stuff"

Or better no campaign...

It's not KOTOR (thankfully).

Am I the only one who thought Battlefront I and II were crap? I was really excited about them, but the games were always one sided. The side with the jetpacks always won. People would fight at choke points. The side with jet packs would skirt around and flank them. That side won. It was the same no matter if it was Clone Wars or Rebellion and it didn't matter which map! I didn't like it.

Can I say that I've been playing Battlefield since the first game years ago? I mean, since before my kids were born (and one is about to drive). I really have enjoyed the Battlefield series and felt that Battlefront was a cheap rip off attempt of Battlefied...but with Star Wars. I didn't like it. I've been really happy with how Battlefield has played through all it's variations (on pc). I like the games. It's one of the few pc games I still play. I'm excited that Star Wars is going to actually be by the same people who do Battlefield...as opposed to some crappy knock off.

This is the sort of thing I wouldn't have noticed because, for me, Battlefront was a couch (semi) co-op game.

The only thing that felt unbalanced was the bull campaign Endor level where you had no tools for a straight-up fight vs the AT-ST equipped imperials; my brother / sister and I just developed a strategy for gunning it through the level on speeders and using demo charges the take the bunker thingy out.

RE: Trailer: Yeah, no. That is not in-game. Give me a break, Dice.

That's, what, a smooth 120 fps with unprecedented dynamic lighting, with high resolution textures on absolutely everything?

1) The XB and PS simply could not handle that, even if you had an engine that could magically deliver it.

2) The best technology on the market right now is being delivered by Crytek, and while it is really good, it isn't that kind of good and has the drawback of requiring a lot of hardware muscle for processing. And, sorry Dice, but youre no Crytek when it comes to technical delivery.

You've got rocket launchers. That, and the trees randomly kill the AT-STs from time to time.

Yeah i found yavin and endor easier as rebels than imperials.

white REALLY stands out.

PC gamer here. So, there are no sofa games. :) With that said, I did get my first console: Xbox One. I will get Battlefront on it.

No space battles no sale, 1st person shooters are 10 a penny.

A decent up to date star wars space sim i'd happily buy.

You know what we need? a WWII FPS.

It has the 3rd person option. There's sky battles if those count.

Although if you want an up to date space sim X-wing Alliance's graphics update mod now works with the GOG edition.

I was about to cry when I heard no campaign... but then I heard Single Player options so I'm gonna be ok.

I'm simply getting too old to be competitive against these 18-25 year old kids anymore. I want to play the game, against an opponent of comparative skill. Single player options vs bots give me the option to do that, so I'm fine. Thats one reason I traded in Titanfall almost immediately.... Awful awful game that you can ONLY EVER play against crackshot teenagers online. Maybe one day a game company will make a senior-citizens-only game console or servers! ha ha!
