Battlefront along with Halo5 will probably sell the Xbox one for me, and so far that console just doesn't have enough going for it to make it worth buying.
Bloodborne was enough to sell me a PS4, and I've always been an Xbox man.

I never got into Battlefront because it seemed too glossy and Star Trek-like to me. I hated how the blasters felt and the UI looked absolutely terrible.
Some people might rake me over hot coals for saying this, but I would be incredibly happy with a Star Wars themed Battlefield 4. I like the grittier, dirty edge that Battlefield series had over Battlefront and I think it suits the SW universe perfectly.
In my head I imagine a Dark Forces style multiplayer FPS.

Heard it's good but i found the PS3 such an utter disappointment when i got one i wont give sony any more of my money, it just gets used to play bluerays these days.
There was no need to buy a PS3; Dark Souls was on the Xbox. ![]()
I've always been an Xbox man too, but I got a PS4. It just seemed the better console overall. Also, Sony has finally made a controller that doesn't suck.
I think both DICE and EA will be very careful with Battlefront. They've learned from DAII, ME3, SimCity and Sims 4 seems to be a sign of a new approach.
Expect a higher price tag, but I think they're going to take great care to deliver on the product. Nobody wants to be the company that screws up Battlefront.

that would be nice that PS3 one was so light it felt like i could break it if i got frustrated while playing, love the 360 controller.
You know what? I don't care so much that the game might come out buggy. They will get it right. When I buy a game, I am in for the long haul. I want a good game. I'm not done with it in 2 months and then rushing off to the next flashy thing. I want a game I can hunker down with and play for a year or more. That's what I want with Battlefront.
I just can't forgive the way Dice drove the noble Battlefield franchise into the ground. Bugs. Bugs, errywhere.

We, my friend, need a Mass Effect style SW RPG.
I would sell a body part for a quality SW game in this genre.

I still like the BF franchise. I don't think it's been drove into the ground at all. There were bugs for the first month or two, but not any after that. Not on PC, at least.

You know...I like the First Person Shooter. Jump on a server, play for 15 min, and the round ends. That's it.

They made the games too big. Too many gadgets, weapons, stuff, etc. Bad Company 2 was awesome. KISS works in games.
The thing that excites me the most is that a lot of the stuff that appears in this game will be considered part of the new Canon. So here's hoping for some good EU comebacks.

Knights of the Old Republic not do it for you?
Wow.
There be some upset people on this here thread.
But not as upset as when I keep overrunning your bases in game.

But seriously now, I say this to all you regional, country and world X Wing champions I greatly admire and respect; I'll see you and all your pretty little faces on Battlefront and remind you what this Galactic Civil War is about.
The Empire is Victorious on ALL fronts!
Live streaming is up. Going to have the Battlefront 3 panel soon.

EA has shown time and again that they do not value customers like you.

They love customers like him. It means they can get away with a ton of crappy stuff.

I've been satisfied with the money I've spent on the Battlefield games. I don't know why you say they have shown they don't value me. What have they done to me to show this?
Managed to tune it literally seconds before the trailer showed.
Definitely friggin excited.
And then I saw something about DLC on facebook. And I was sad.
But then I saw "free" and perked right back up.

So according to their material about Jakku the New Republic is a thing as of soon after Endor.
I guess the First Order rises after the NR falls then, or the First Order isn't galactic.
On Battlefront itself:
Looks like the development focus is on the gameplay. The implication seems to be it has four planets in it, Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Sullust, but they're huge (the previous Battlefronts had loads but on downscaled maps). A fifth (the battle that makes the starship graveyard at the start of Episode VII) is planned as a free release a few weeks after release.
Can't say I like the look of this:
Implies character customisation rather than classes, which I guess I'd be okay with. The problem is that it looks like a microtransaction model or an opening for one, buying stuff for your soldier. I really, really hope that's not the case. I desperately hope that's not the case.
EA will host the servers so the game won't run properly for the first month
Is this going to be purely console-based?
No. I got that picture from the Origin preorder.
I'm getting this game regardless, but how they handle expanding it will strongly affect whether it gets played to death as throughly as my modded Battlefront I and II. I've heard the words "expansion pack" which gives me strong hope DICE recognise how loathed microtransactions are amongst the community they're appealing to with this game.
Looks like the structure is 4 planets with no downscaling (as in movie accurate Hoth size, collosal). Four planets are Endor, Hoth, Sullust and Tatooine, with Jakku being released as free DLC two weeks later. Starfighter combat looks to be integrated into all maps, which gives an idea of scale. AT-ATs on all four maps, again a size indicator.
Ambivalent about how they've added Mass Effect esque oomph to all the laser sounds, but I think I like it.
