New Caprica + Cylon Attack Cards

By clove, in Battlestar Galactica

Here's a problem we came up with last night:

  1. New Caprica Phase
  2. Galactica Returns to Orbit
  3. Cylon Player uses Super Crisis card, a big Cylon Attack Crisis, with all types of ships, including Civilians.

Q: The Super Crisis card instructs you to set up Civilian ships, but where would you take them from? Locked, Prepared, The Box?

Evacuating ships for the Humans seems like a very nice thing to do, especially 4 at once. Granted, the card also launches Vipers for free.

We opted to say that the Civilian ships' "stockpile" (Core p. 22) is depleted since they are all in play on New Caprica, and according to the Component Limitations (Core p. 28), could not be placed.

Typing this up, I really think we were correct... what do you think?

-A

We did the very same thing, based on similar arguments. I agree that evacuating 4 ships from NC in one turn would make the Super Crisis not so "super" at all at that moment.

They would not be placed, for the reasons you posted. The civilian ships on New Caprica are 'in play' much in the same way any ship in a space area around Galactica is 'in play'. As such, the humans do not get free evacs from someone's supercrisis.

+1. Doesn't make sense to hinder yourself with your crisis.

I think Sinis nailed it. The ships on the New Caprica board are in play. If there are no ships left when a crisis is drawn that places them, they are not placed.
