Current player question

By Stefan, in Battlestar Galactica

Hi,

I have to questions concerning the current player who chooses an effect on or is effected by crisis cards. If he is a Cylon who triggered a Crisis Card on Caprica, he ignores the Activation symbol, but counts the jump icon (if any), but what if he would be affected as the current player let's say as "...has to discard X skill cards"? Does this apply? Or is he always excuded?

The other question concerns the ability to do so. If a crisis card reads "....dicards X skill cards", and he doesn't have that number, can he then choose this option? Or must he be able to fulfill it?

A revealed cylon can choose to ignore negative effects of crisis cards

Also, you can choose the discard option, even if you don't have the cards in your hand

Good questions!

"Revealed Cylon players are unaffected by abilities on Crisis Cards and skill checks ... and cannot be forced to discard Skill Cards."

and

"Choice Crises: When a player makes a choice on a Crisis Card, he can always choose the top or bottom section of the card, regardless of whether he will be able to fulfill the game text listed (unless the card specifically restricts this)."

Confusingly, if the card says you must (not "may") send someone to the Brig or Sickbay, you must choose someone not already there.

And another nugget I just learned a few games ago: Cylons are still "Current Player" on their turn. Crisis cards that are Current Player Chooses Choice Crisis are thus chosen by the Cylon.

Good luck,

-A

Pegasus changes the space.

Yep, in Pegasus only ship activations are skipped, which helps the humans a bit.
