Scum List help

By Mrmrsd, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I need some help on my new list. I have been running 4 academy and 2 interceptors. I have not played many games and played in a casual tournament this past weekend. During the tournament the swarm did well but could not pull the ships off due to the upgrade cards/ability cards of my opponents. I am looking at three different Scum lists.

1) Boba Fett - Outmaneuver, proton rocket, autoblaster and IG88C - PTL, autothruster, sensor jammer, autoblaster

2) 2x Z-95, 1x StarViper, Kavil, Palob blaster turret, Moldy Cow

3) 2x Z-95, IG88C autothruster, Firespray PTL

I do like more ships for added fire power and to move targets around. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want a more survivable list that can also put out some uncancelled damage and can stay on the board.

Four academies on their own isn't particularly awesome, they really need Howlrunner to be effective in a swarm like that.

Which is something you could do:

Howlrunner w/ Stealth Device

2x Alpha Squadron Pilots w/ Autothrusters

3x Obsidian Squadron Pilots

Could also drop those back down to Academy Pilots to free up three points for an initiative bid or to put an EPT on Howlrunner.

Then again, I don't know which two Interceptors you were flying.

Of the three lists you posted, this stands out in list two: naked Kavil is a waste of points. Replace him with a Syndicate Thug with BTL-A4, Unhinged Astromech, and an Ion Cannon Turret and you now have a Y-Wing actually worth having in your team. Alternatively, you could give the Y a Blaster Turret and the Agromech for more potential firepower, though I like the control/maneuverability combo that ICT and Unhinged give you. That would actually be a solid list in my book. Just be aware that the enemy will almost certainly gun for Palob first. But if you can manage to keep him alive for a few rounds of fighting, maybe throw some blocks with the pirates, you can have him steal evades/focuses and let the squad focus fire down the vulnerable ship. Keeping a HWK alive, however, is usually easier said than done.

Can't really speak to Firespray + IG squads, as I don't have an IG and every time I've played against them so far it's been a dual IG team. Squad 1 looks potentially amusing, 3 I can't say personally looks all that terrifying to me.

If I had to choose which S&V list to fly, I would choose #1. 2 things I would change (assuming that the origanal point cost was 100) would be swaping Fett with Scarlet and Proton rockets with Cluster Missiles. The layout I would use is putting the aggressor straight ahead with the opponent's most powerfull ship, since the aggressor is nearly untouchable, with Scarlet next to it. Fly Scarlet to make sure the opponent's ship is in the back firing arc, and when the time comes, do a k turn to fire your cluster missiles, then get the the ship back in your back firing arc. Hope this helps!
