I'm curious on how the new X-Wing in Ep7 will be represented in Armada.
Can't wait to see what it can do when the movie comes out.

You're assuming that FFG will make ep7 models but currently both X-Wing and Armada are set during the Galactic Civil War period, which (while a bit fuzzy) doesnt seem to yet cover any new trilogy stuff. Sure it seems like a no-brainer for FFG to tie in x-wing/LCG/Imperial Assault/Armada with the new trilogies, there has been no announcement of this.
Well, Galactic Civil War didn't end right after battle at second Death Star, it went on for years, although from that moment Empire started crumbling. The new trilogy, for all we know, might continue the war altogether, bringing someone who'd unify the remnants under one banner instead of following EU where it fell apart into warring states ruled by Warlords.
Even with the few images we got in the trailer, we can clearly see that the Empire is still around. In what capacity they are is yet to be determined. I think we will see episode 7-9 stuff. It would kind of be silly for FFG to not put stuff from the new movies on the shelf.
I don't think they have changed that much. It's still the good old X Wing.

If you freeze frame the scene where they're flying across the water you will see the "X-Wings" are quite different.
The wings don't fold together but into each other and the engine cowls split in half, these could be a different version of Z95 Headhunter but time will tell.
I didn't watsch it that closely. ![]()
Different looks - same performance in a fleet based game.
Would be my guess...
THE FORCE AWAKENS SQUADRON PACK
MSRP: $24.99
Two each of the new X-Wing, other "Rebel" fighter, and whatever they have for the Empire.
Poe pilot card
and the price is $5 more to cover the fact they are pre-painted!

The "new" x-wing is inspired by Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the original trilogy (seen on the left).

New x-wing top right, old x-wing (the design the original trilogy settled on using) on the bottom right.
Also, notice that the new x-wing has the top and bottom wings split along their length to mesh into one "wing" when they are lowered. You can see that in this shot from the trailer:

Good Catch
I just want to point out that it somewhat bothers me the way the wings are split like that, just personal taste, it just makes it look more fragile. Oh an of course the fact that it doesn't house an astromech slot from what we have seen so far. Though it would be funny to see how this new x-wing would be crafted in X-wing as I think the base x-wing with the droid slot and the e-wing would seem to have more general options, provided they try to make something in between the two minus said droid spot.

Thought I'd just chime in to say that the astromech slot is most certainly still there. You don't really see it in the trailer image cuz its partially obscured by the water vapor but you can see part of the astromech head peeking out abit. There are other small changes here and there all over the ship like a shorter cockpit to snout ratio, thinner cannon barrel, split wings and engine hoods, which adds up to make it look sleeker and more balanced. The old X-wing looks almost bulky in comparison to the new design
Why do they gotta mess with a good thing =(
New X-wing has a name too! Say hello to the T-70 X-Wing. ![]()

Edit: And now I am embarassed because someone else already said it on X-Wing forums. ![]()
Mmmmmm this T-70 looks amazing! I love the meshed wings and the split engines makes sense.
My hypothesis is that the engines spilt and the fighter becomes more maneuverable and when the wings are closed the "split" is connected forming a much stronger engine giving the ship more speed but less turning. Like the original X-Wing but smoother and sleeker. Since it is smaller it is likely weaker BUT it is possible that technology has kept it around the same (likely better shielding)
It is rare for a model of a vehicle to get weaker after thirty more years of development.
My guess is that the dial is slightly different. Maybe one point in the stats somewhere... Shields maybe?

maybe, if that. it's clear the new design tries to show more beefy intakes, longer nacelles. I think you could add BOOST.
edit: sorry im talking about X-wing.
in Armada I think 5 hit points would stay the same, but maybe change speed to 4.
Edited by vyragoAnyone else notice that the crashed x-wing in the foreground around the 25 second mark of the new trailer seems to be the traditional x-wings we are accustomed to?

Notice the ^ engine assembly.
Watch the trailer in fullscreen and look closely at the wing configuration.
Edited by Deathseedin the teaser trailer #2 opening shot that is an OT X-wing, Round engine intakes
Yep, new model. I like the new ones as much as I like the old ones. Seems just right for an updated model.
We also haven't seen them from the top, so the astromech slot may be more flush with the hull.
