out of print asylum packs?

By rickert, in CoC General Discussion

Are there monthly packs that are out of print? Will they be reprinted. I'm thinking of trying the game but as hesitant if some of the cards are already unavailable forever.

Few comments in reply.

On the 'upcoming' page of this larger website FFG lists the Mountains of Madness Asylum pack as being reprinted. It is the first of the 'white bordered' asylum packs. The fact that it sells well enough that they intend to reprint is an excellent bellwhether.

The asylum packs aren't really MONTHLY by any stretch of them imagination, but we have been getting five or six a year, which is, imo, great.

Take the plunge, this is a VERY fun game.

I just came from investigating A Game of Thrones and I thought that maybe this game followed the same schedule. It's fine that the packs are less frequent. I'm glad to hear you like it that well. I'm still "investigating" it and could take the plunge. Warhammer is attracting me as well though.

Is it any problem that there aren't many story cards out?

Story cards aren't a problem. It's in fact a nice cultural elemant that for official play everyone plays the same ten cards for each passing era. Which also means there are a few past sets of ten for variation. And the two promos!

A Game of Thrones is jsut a wonderful group of books, a burst of imagination and multiple first perspective characters to follow, and more books to come. So...the game gets a pass for my rant. Warhammer, like Magic, gets no such luxury. The mythos world conquers all comers. Mechanics be damned. If you're not dropping the marble down the chimney in Which Witch, you're just playing a version of Candyland.

HEY! Warhammer Invasion will include a pretty cool Witchhunter. Which hunts Witches and is cool.

Call of Cthulhu does have a lot of colourful characters. From the books (Colour out of Space) as well as originals like Victoria Glasser.

All LCG's are fun to play, even without the extension packs. Sure, it gives options and make it more complete but if you start your new group, it doesn't matter that much if you have 'm or not unless you want to compete on a larger level. But yeah, if Mountains is being reprinted (despite it not being the favorite of the more competative players - although: Sledge Dogs!) that's good news for people who want to step in!

Walking into a warhammer store was always so funny. Cool gamers, lots of space and tables to play on, and beautifully colored armies.

AND ONE GAME IN THE WHOLE STORE.

Tell me about it. I tried to pick up some UFS when it still was Sabretooth. So, I called the Warhammer store.

"Do you sell UFS?"

"No, we only have Games Workshop games."

"It's Sabretooth. It is GW."

Now I hear that it's strict store policy, that only games that are part of 'the hobby' are allowed in store.

...But, Warhammer in this context is probably Warhammer: Invasion LCG... ;)
