I'm not 100% sure I understand what "Limited" means.

Could someone explain "Limited" keyword, without simply quoting the rulebook? I think I understand it, but I want to make sure.

During the setup phase, when you are allowed to place up to 5 gold worth characters and/or locations, you are restricted to playing just 1 card that has the ' limited' keyword.

During the regular rounds you are only allowed to play 1 card from your hand (by paying the cost to play it) that has the 'limited' keyword. However a card that is " Put into Play" is not bound by that "limited' rule. So you could 'play' a card that is ' limited' by paying its cost and also 'put into play' a card that is 'limited'.

edit: To clarify one thing also, that applies to cards with the ' limited' keyword not to a card that has a ' limited response'

It's easier than many people make it. If you play a card (no matter what type) with the Limited keyword, you can't play another one until next round. This includes Setup. Essentially, "Limited" simply means, "just one."

There are two places that people usually get stuck with "Limited:"

1. They think "Limited" means only one of each card by title each round. (For example, I had someone play both a Great Keep and a Godswood in the same round, claiming that since they didn't have the same name, "Limited" didn't stop them.) This is, obviously, not true. "Limited" counts on any card with any title and by any type. You only get to play one each round.

2. They take it too far. "Limited" only stops you from playing more than one each round, but "put into play" effects never consider Limited. For example, say that I play the Epic Battle card "The Battle of the Blackwater," which lets me put in-House characters or locations from my hand into play if I win the challenge in the Epic phase. In Marshaling, I play a copy of The Goldroad. In the Epic phase, I win a challenge and want to put a second copy of The Goldroad into play, even though I have already played a "Limited" card this round. It turns out I can do it because the second "Limited" card is not being played - it is being "put into play" by a card effect.

So there's what it means and two of the common pitfalls. More than you wanted, probably.

OK, so to be sure (and to explain the confusion) if I have an attachment and a location in my hand, each with the Limited keyword, I can only play one of the two in a turn.

Additionally, Setup and my First Turn are completely different, when determining playing Limited cards?

And finally, to beat a dead horse, if my opening hand has a Sea Raiders , an Iron Islands Fiefdom , and a Bloody Keep . It'll take until my Marshaling Phase on my 2nd turn to get them all into play (ignoring unusual card effects, of course). Right?

Thanks everyone.

1. Correct.

2. Correct. "Cards are considered neither “played” nor “put into play” when revealed during setup."

3. Correct.

You guys totally rule. Thanks a ton!

Correct in the understanding, but is there an attachment with the "Limited" keyword?

what does limited response mean?

does it mean i can play only one limited response per round, regardless from which card?

or

can i play more than one limited response if the response comes from a diffrent card?

example: i have two cards in play. both have a limited response. can i trigger both in the same round.

i guess not.

This one. The "limit 1 per round" is placed on effects labeled "Limited Response" regadless of the name of the card(s) in question.
