Comparing the Nebulon B in the core set to a painted one

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

I was doing a video showcasing the pros and cons of having a 2nd Core Set, and I ended up comparing my washed rebel ships to the new rebel ships. it's around the 10 minute mark if you want to see a comparison. I apologize for the less than perfect video quality.

Such a big difference. I think I'm going to have to do this wash thing :P

What kind of oil?

Wow, major difference. Glad I picked up a bottle of nuln oil earlier, will need to wash the fleet...

What kind of oil?

It's called Nuln Oil. It's from Citadel. Alot of people will mix it with water, 50% of each. I went without water, and they came out pretty dark.

Nuln Oil is actually an acrylic wash...

...on the other hand I have some experience using actual oil washes for drawing out detail on models like this. I have several other things on my painting desk first that need to be done first, but I want to do my own paint jobs on these ships. :)

Just ordered my first wash. I plan to mix 50/50 so the Neb-B doesn't get too dark. We'll see.

Good stuff Crabcakes!

I mean Crabbok.

I used it on 1 of my Nebulon-B frigates and diluted 50/50. I did 2 coats, it was a little light witb only one.

It does seem like a quality control issue as I'm certain my Nebulon B had a lot more effort put into its rear than most peoples; In fact the one in that video looks almost entirely unpainted.

Pretty much.

I think they did use a wash, I just think the wash they used was watered down way too much, so it came out far too light.
