Space Marines

By scammer762, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

so.... I kind of gave my players a bit of space marine help for their epic battle to end chaos on the planet (Choir) that they are slowly but sure TRYING to settle. Now they want to just throw in the space Marines and roll on. I have in place enough to tell them that that's not how that works. (lol) I am working on making a EPIC battle for them while the Space Marines are occupied with Chaos Marines..... but I want to make it a good story to boot. Suggestions? Thanks folks :)

What's the situation?

To make it epic, larger than life foes with big goals help. Major champions of chaos, who have dire reputations that they can and will live up to. The bigger the enemies, the bigger the glory from beating them.

Well I'm going with a stolen gene seed from a Primearch and an attempt ( though somewhat failing) to set up an outpost that can make Chaos Marines. :) I agree bigger is better. I think that There will probably be a squad or 2 of true Chaos Marines but I was kind of wondering if I should throw in some mutant 1/2 Chaos Marine hybrids. Thinking along the lines of the failed experimental Chaos Marines. :0

Here's hoping Fabius Bile escapes. The Blood Angels couldn't get him, and that involved much of their Chapter, some Sanguinius gene-seed, and a possible resurrection/reincarnation of said same Primarch. Never quite so happy to see the Blood Angels look quite so dumb. Sorry, but with that much Space Marine tinker-science, I had to at least mention the Chem-Master's name.

I'm pretty positive Primarch geneseed doesn't replicate naturally like normal geneseed does, which means that it would have to be retreived from a primarch's dead body. As long as you're ok with that, it sounds reasonable, although with prize that valuable I'd bump up marines per side to about a hundred.

Also, give 2-3 Astartes as RT's bodyguards so they can see just how awesome they are, then take them away in the middle of the battle (easiest way seems to have them called back to their unit, since Adeptus Astartes only answer to themselves and High Lords of Terra the rogue trader will have no say in that matter).

P.S. Remember to give them all (both SM and CSM) True Grit. As for other stats, I assume you have access to either Black Crusade or Deathwatch. ;)

@scammer762 How did they get their hands on a Primarch geneseed? That would be a tale in itself. And whether it was done quietly or loudly would effect who knows and what other factions might get involved. Inquisition/Ordo Assassinatorum agents may show up just to steal/destroy the geneseed.

@venkelos I get the picture that GW are quietly forgetting about that entire trilogy. I haven't heard it being referenced to in other material since. But Fabius Bile would be a great, if attention-grabbing, element.

@Elavion If it were known that *anything* directly from a Primarch was involved, let alone geneseed, I can see the numbers of astartes climbing quickly. More so if the seizure was public. Chapters and warbands might get involved.

@Decessor yeah, I just assumed they didn't want anyone unnecessary to know about it. If word got out, we could get legion-sized armies of Astartes eventually.

@Decessor the hilarious part is that only their astropath knows that they are the ones bringing an inquisitor. :) I am also going on the idea that due to the lawlessness of the Kronos they are keeping it quiet so they don't wind up with a bunch of RT's fighting over whose gunna get it. The inquisition is on the case just staying below radar :) . Also, Thank you for the responses :) .
