X Wing > Star Wars RPG Conversion.

So explain to your players that by having the slots as in edge they can plan and coordinate their actions to make them more effective. Team work wins.

You have said this twice now, why do you feel repeating it contributes to further conversation?

Team work comes in a variety of ways and just because you think this systems turn order is amazing doesn't mean other people do. I honestly feel that It permits far too much metagaming instead of teamwork.

but again, you saying it twice, won't change what I'm doing, and telling people one thing while they believe a different thing is ineffective until they discover it for themselves.

now that your opinion on the matter has been noted, Twice, we are moving on.

My aren't we snippy... All I said was to tell your players such in response to them needing to come to that conclusion. No need to be angry about it.

My aren't we repetitive? That's thrice, your point was clearly stated the first time. If I seem snippy it is because I really have no need to hear the same thing over and over again when i'm looking forward to responses that may help me to integrate these games together. Do have anything else you want to offer trying to integrate the two games?

Wow dude. I only said it once. But apparently you are going to way over react to me responding to your premise of convincing your players that maybe you should tell them. Which continues to illicit an over reaction. Perhaps you could relax...take a step back. It is only a game.

I am now fully done with talking with you about mine and your behavior. So I apologize for anything you thought I said that upset you. Now I will ask again. Do you have anything further to add to the relevant discussion?

This could only work for a Pilot themed campaign. Since X wing 2.0 is out. I support converting 1.0 to the rpg! its a good way to re purpose your old and now obsolete X wing 1.0 cards.

Wont work. Has been tried.

To me, the original posting on the FFG website was just a money grab...

Int Scene, mid-morning,the FFG marketing board:

RPG company fat cat #1 [played by Danny DeVito]: OK guys, we need to wring as much money out of the rpg'ers and the miniplayers as we can.. any clues?

RPG company fat cat #2 [played by Clint Eastwood]: I've got something to make your day... I'll write a fluff piece on how to mix Xwing with the RPGs.

RPG cfc #1: get on it,,,, make my day

TBH I can't believe I typed that dross out as a script...but that's all I saw as soon as I saw the original article MONTHS AGO... it was the start of my love affair with FFG going the same way as the interior temperature of a tauntaun,,,, it went LUKE WARM... yup, once I've got the last F&D career book I'm outta here. Defend the original article all you want.... but my view won't change. The Farce Awakens started set with the map in was the same thing to me: £$£$£$£$MOO £$£$£$MOO

Why didnt it work, what was the problem? Im not convinced this cant be done, there is alot of creative contributors on the forum. I think with enough work and good ideas this could be done better than previous attempts.

Here's the short list:

1) Too long to play -

I have never seen a game of X-Wing that didn't take forever to get through. A combat in the RPG is suppose to be quick. I don't want to take all night in one 3-on-3 battle.

2) Too lethal -

While the RPG has game balance issues, there are ways to mitigate damage on your ship (a quality engineer can do wonders). In X-Wing, boom is boom.

3) It's boring for everyone else -

The gunner? The mechanic busy putting out fires? The slicer jamming the enemy ships? The people who would be otherwise doing something during the combat that has use? They get to do nothing but watch the pilot set the maneuver dial. Yippie.

3) Kiss your talents goodbye -

This is the most important one. Any schlubb can have five yellow dice in any piloting skill, but the real fun stuff happens when you bring your talents into play. That's where the good stuff lies. There is no way to bring those talents over to X-Wing, and suddenly my 175 point pilot has 95 of those points in something I cant use.

This has been discussed many, many, many, many, manymanymanymanymany times from many different angles. It doesn't work.

Just use the minis as visual representation of a space battle in the RPG.
