Star Wars properties and Disney Logo

By patox, in X-Wing

Disney taking over the Star Wars universe is the best thing to happen to the i.p. since Kershner took over Empire.

But it's still preplexing why Disney is putting their mark all over Star Wars, but not Marvel.

(And Disney could certainly put their logo all over their Marvel stuff. Marvel is a wholly owned subsidiary of Disney — which means Disney can do whatever they want – except for the characters that were sold during the pre-Disney firesale)

"When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of appearing childish."

-Can't recall if the quote's quite correct, but I find myself agreeing with C.S. Lewis there. So what if the Disney logo is generally seen as for children? If anything, putting it on more of their new IPs will help certain people overcome the notion that Disney owning said IPs is a bad thing. So, I'm fine with Disney logos on my toy spaceships, in fact I quite like it.

It is from 1 Corinthians 13:11, C.S. Lewis is just quoted somewhere quoting the bible.

Sorry its the English teacher in me, correct sources and all.

Ignore my ramblings.

Move along nothing to see here

It's not perplexing - as has been said up above - there are numerous licensing issues at play w/ Marvel as well as lawsuits (settled and possibly more coming) from the estate of Jack Kirby.

:) C.S. Lewis often used or quoted the Christian Bible but I think the ending to this phrase is entirely his. As much as we (some not all) appreciate the Christian Bible I don't believe C,S, Lewis' point wasn't quite the same as in the letter to Corinth.

“When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 1 Corinthians 13:11 (NIV)

Am I being a little overly pedantic?

Nope, I recognise both variations, and my gran only quoted the Corinthians verse when complaining about me playing games. That didn't include the "fer of appearing childish" part that's the main point of the C.S. Lewis quote.
