gohastings has wave 1?

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Based on the pricing, somebody over there mixed up Imperial Assault Wave 1 and Armada Wave 1. This isn't going to end well.

Agreed. Obvious error.

"You had one job!!!"

There is no way they have wave 1 if FFG isn't announcing its release ... Some people just need to learn patience.

I dunno about that - maybe a half-crate got unloaded from the docks early? Or maybe it was a gen-con type early release that went to Hastings by mistake? Maybe there is a surprise early release for Star Wars celebration this week and some of the inventory made it's way to Hastings?

And maybe you are dreaming ... Im guessing it goes from the dock to a FFG distrubution plant where then it gets shipped out to stores, not right from the docks to the stores.

Bait and Switch laws:

http://consumerist.com/2007/04/11/what-is-the-bait-and-switch-and-when-is-it-illegal/

The FTC has some guidelines about what is “bait and switch” advertising and what isn’t. Basically, “bait and switch” deals with a disingenuous advertisement. There needs to be an advertisement for the bait in order for there to be a “bait and switch.” Here are some quick guidelines:
  • If the seller has the ability to sell you the “bait” but talks you into buying something else. That’s not “bait and switch.”
  • If the seller runs out of the “bait” but the advertisement specifies limited quantities, that’s not “bait and switch.”
  • If the seller does not intend to sell you the “bait,” and does any of the following in the course of selling other merchandise, then it’s probably the “bait and switch”:
Disparages the bait or its warranty, credit terms, availability of service, repairs or parts.
Employs compensation methods that discourage or penalize sales people for selling the bait.
Refuses to take orders for the bait.
Refuses to make delivery of the bait within a reasonable time period.
Shows you a broken or defective product.
Fails to meet anticipated demand for the bait without disclosing the bait’s limited availability in the ad.
Fails to stock all outlets with the bait in the quantity specified in the ad.

P.S. I hope the guys legit.

If anything I assume they'll either honor the orders once things get sorted out or issue a refund.

I have a feeling they may be selling ships from the Core set individually.

You might be onto something, what is they are just selling the ships, not the upgrade cards or command dials or anything else! Only time will tell.

The descriptions are of the expansion packs (including cards, etc), not just the ships.

We should find out soon since they already shipped. But since they seem to like charging full price, and the prices line up with Imperial Assault products (and they are listing more than just the ships from the core set.)

And also, they would be no point just shipping people ships and nothing else. They would still be losing massive amounts of money per sale.

I figure I am getting some IA stuff, but who?!?

I hope I am getting the ships/the price will be honored.

I have ordered from Hasting's in the past as well as shopped in their stores. It is a chain similar to Barnes & Noble, though not on the same national/international scale. Not sure that I'll actually get these Armada expansions, but I'm not worried about whether or not I can get my money back if it doesn't work out.

As an FYI Hastings is now owned by NECA, the toy and collectable company

http://necaonline.com

Well they're both owned by the same parent company.

So, all out of stock now except neb b, which i just ordered. Guessing a crap ton of people jumped on the bandwagon. For $10, it's worth the gamble. In many cases, stores will have a product in hand that they are not supposed to sell until a specific date. Often is the case that a store will screw up and put stuff up for sale early. Perhaps that is the deal here. Although it doesn't explain why it's so cheap.

Guess we'll find out ...

So any ETAs on the shipments?

I got my shipping confirmation last night. I paid for expedited shipping, so I'm expecting my ships to arrive tomorrow. I'll keep the post updated as soon as I get any more news - Which will likely be tomorrow around 5!

Shipping confirmation for the corvette received, nothing on the neb yet.

So many red flags with this.

Wave 1 isn't released yet.

They are selling the core at full retail price, yet the expansions are way below cut rate online vendors. Way below their own reduced pricing when they offer it.

The prices match retail pricing of Imperial assault expansions.

They only list the IA core and Imp Guard Champ for IA.

I have a shipping confirmation for both the Corvette and the Nebulon Frigate.

Shipping confirmation received on one CR90, one Neb B and two Gladiators ... I wonder what I'll get ... it's like Christmas all over again ... please no socks and underwear ... ... please!

Got my shipping notice last night for Gladiator, Neb B, CR90, and Assault Frigate. Until it arrives, I will just keep telling myself that they dropped shipped it so it can be here as close as possible to the Star Wars celebration tomorrow and it isn't the wrong product.... :D

This will prove interesting. Staying tuned.

Word on BoardGameGeek is that they are Imperial Assault packs.

If that turns out to be true I'm hoping to get a full refund AND the ability to keep my IA packs

As long as they give a full refund and pay for the return shipping, there is no reason to expect them to say you can just keep it. If you haven't lost anything then there is no reason to expect them to either. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake and they weren't trying to be deceitful. I'm sure their warehouse people are wondering why the sudden flood of orders for IA figures too.

The reason is because I've heard a rumor that this has happened before and because the cost of shipping and the cost of the item are nearly the same, they didn't deem it cost-effective to return the shipping.

Plus I'll admit, they got my heart beating really fast by advertising they have this stuff, and it's going to be a sad let-down when I open it up and see that it's not what they claimed. It might ease my pain and suffering if they give me some free rebel trooper packs to make up for it lol!

but yeah however they want to handle it i'm fine. I just want Wave 1 ASAP! lol
