Great game, so let's make these posts more positive.

By Goknights12, in Star Wars: Armada

So I love this game, lots of fun, but it saddens me and concerns me that the top two posts in the recent week is it's too expensive and the paint jobs are bad etc etc. Maybe I'm just not as attune to it. I agree it was expensive, but I don't think unreasonably so, and I didn't mind the paint jobs. Would you rather have them completely unpainted? Because there are games out there that you can spend $100 for 2 units and have them unpainted and you have to put them together.

Haters gonna hate.

As someone who spent truckloads on unpainted miniatures I think Armada is slightly more expensive than people hoped for but still not in the realm of a certain company currently (still) no.1 in miniatures despite attitude and cost.

As for the poor paint job? I touch up any model anyhow. No biggie for me.

Like the game. Love is likely to come when (finally!) wave 1 hits the stores.

(and breaks my wallet)

Man, does it itch at places without hope for relief with core set only. :)

Just ignore those threads. I haven't seen much negativity really for this game.

Its really an awesome time to be a Star Wars fan. X-Wing, Armada, Imperial Assault and more movies (and TV shows) on the way. I love the stuff that FFG produces, so i'm all in.

I think we should just square all the posts, guaranteed positive result. ;)

No it's not, that's a lie! You're a stupid doodoo head!

Am I doing this right? :P

I'm glad someone said this. If you have complaints, at least phrase them in a constructive manner. It makes it far more likely FFG will take your thoughts into account when producing expansions and other games.

Well FFG has been very good about listening to customers' concerns. I know that FFG will not be perfect but it is a lot better than most other companies I have dealt with and I was glad when I saw them getting into Miniature Games. I have not been disappointed.

But people are entitled to their opinions too, but as it was just said constructive criticism will go much further and be realistic in your expectations. (An example would be the unpainted squadrons. It would have been nice if they were painted but the cost to produce such small pieces with 'Good' paint detail would have been crazy. And I doubt any of us would have wanted to see that price tag. I am sure FFG discussed it and many of the other concerns people have heavily.)

I love this game, it's amazing

I love this game too but your comment is as constructive as saying "THIS GAME SUCKS"

People tend to be upset when somone criticizes something they like, but cmon you are not kids, deal with it.

To be honest I don't think there's that much negativity. Even in the threads you mentioned you can see that most people are okay with the game's price because when you look at the bigger picture and take everything into account instead of just single ship prices, then you will notice it's pretty reasonable, especially when compared to other wargames on the market.

As for paintjobs... well, the quality of those varies greatly - I bought one core set and my Nebulon lacks wash on the rear part, but the front is very crisp and clean with properly done shading, same for the Victory and, mostly for CR90, but other three I saw at my local gaming store had very different effects - one's Nebulon B was properly shaded, but the CR90 looked like it was literally dipped in the wash while on the other the whole Nebulon B was grey from all that wash.

Overall I think the quality of paintjob is okay - it's still just a pre-painted miniature made in china - they never are painted as well as a wargaming painter would do by hand, so expecting as much is ridiculous. I think it's just that wildly varying paint quality from first run of cores makes some people unhappy, because everyone obviously would rather have the best looking minis, knowing that some sets had much better paintjob than theirs, it's understandable. :)

But other than that the forums are very positive and I, despite being happy with the card distribution model from X-Wing, am still very much into both of those games and I wish them nothing but the best, because I intend to enjoy them for years to come! :D

While I've said my share of beefs with this game... all in all it's really solid, fun, and I enjoy it much more than I enjoy X-Wing. And I love X-Wing. It's refined, and so far feels pretty balanced and contains a lot of really interesting options, even with just the core set stuff! I'm so eager to try the Wave 1 expansions.

Ok, this came off extremely hostile and directed at somene who just said they liked the game in a thread titled Let's be more Positive.

This is a taste of logic used by "positive people"

:D

Seriously, my friends and fellow forum members from different games would laugh at you calling me Positive. I am quite critical and I will voice my opinion as I see fit but I still try to be grownup and logical about it.

I do not personally attack someone for making simple comments. In fact I can be at the opposite end of a spectrum from someone and I do my best to keep it civil.

I still think it's funny you called me positive. Bad judge of character. ;)

But back to the topic amd using this as an example let's try not to go over the edge and attack someone just becuase they have different opinions. We can disagree and still be friends and people like Mr. Cage deserves more respect. (Let's just forget his acting jobs lately.)

You misunderstood me (my fault as i wasn't clear enough), i didn't mean you.

I was applying logic presented in an earlier post by some "postiive person". I just wanted to show how biased it is when they expect critisism to be constructive but they dont demand the same from their own opinions.

I seek no quarrel with you, peace.

I have a scheduled game on thursday! Excited!

I have a scheduled game on thursday! Excited!

Luck in battle!

Err...unless you're a rebel.

(cough) Never know when ISB might be listening.

I played three games of the Learn to Play game last weekend and found the game is very enjoyable.

We found it easy to play and with some depth to play which will make it hard to master. Can't wait to hit 400+ points as the depth of choice for the game will start to make the game feel quite epic of scale.

I also hope that the asymetrical nature of things is maintained. I like that the factions represented are quite different, with the scale of the game there is a risk that it will end up somewhat too even.

Ok, peace Microscop. I normally try to work out a more thought out response but I have at times gone with the quick response becuase I am not in a place to write out my thoughts (on bus, on break at work) and if someone wants me to explain more I am open to that. But sometimes people just want to pipe up and say whatever is on their mind.

As for the two threads in question I did post my thoughts and laid out why I am not that concerned by the issue myself but I also can see why people may speak up about them too.

I do not want to see this forum fall into a constant bickering place where all we do is argue and complain because then we have people complain about the complaining about the complaining and the we ha.... You get the idea. :P

I would like to amend my description of the internet being negative to this much more accurate passage

I love this game. I enjoyed it far more than I ever did with X-Wing.

For my part, I'm quite pleased with both ARMADA & IMPERIAL ASSAULT. My wallet, on the other hand...
