Your thoughts? JWC - Rebel Aces.

By M4sterPupp3t, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been play testing this list for a few days and have been having a pretty decent time with it. I just feel like this is missing something and would like some outside criticism.

Jake Farrell - 24pts - 25pts Total

  • Veteran Instincts - (1pt)
  • Autothrusters - (2pts)
  • Chardaan Refit - (-2pts)

Wedge Antilles - 29pts - 33pts Total

  • Predator - (3pts)
  • R2 Astromech - (1pt)

Corran Horn - 35pts - 42pts Total

  • Veteran Insticts - (1pts)
  • Fire-Control System - (2pts)
  • R2-D2 - (4pts)

Total: 100pts

For those of you who'd rather see the list in glorious color and what-not:

Jake is usually the first to die in the games I've played. I'd like to try to give him either more firepower so I don't need to get him up close to make him more effective (Especially after Corran double-taps and is cooling off.) I also feel like the R2 on Wedge is more filler than anything else (which is true, I added it in as filler because I wanted to keep the list at 100pts,) and can't seem to that anything else that works on Wedge.

All three pilots fly pretty close together with Jake and Corran in the lead and Wedge not far behind, Jake usually peels off to arc-dodge / get up close, then Corran and Wedge fire at whatever's closest.

Comments, concerns, death-threats?

A-Wings typically bring lackluster offense to the table, which appears to be that much more problematic for a three ship list. If you're going to run R2 on Wedge anyways, you might as well take PtL instead of Predator.

Well if your looking for tweaks to this squad without changing the pilots I would suggest the following:

Drop VI on Coran and Jake, Drop R2 on Wedge. Add PTL to Jake, Boosting and barrel rolling with Jake whilst getting a focus makes him a whole lot better.

Of course if you fly against a lot of Soontir Fel then maybe the VIs are good but at that point theres not a whole lot more tweaking to be done.

Agree on the A wing analysis - disagree on PTL. Predator is a "semi" target lock that doesn't stress you - it's far better on wedge than PTL IMO.

A Wings on the other hand need PTL, but it's difficult to drop something from the list. It'd probably have to be R2-D2, but meh.

I like Predator, but that single die re-roll can be pretty underwhelming at times. If he's already using R2, there's no reason not to make use of all that extra green on the dial; PtL becomes the better upgrade at that point.

Try this:

Jake Farrell (24)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Wedge Antilles (29)
Stay On Target (2)
R2 Astromech (1)

Corran Horn (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
R2-D2 (4)

Total: 100
