Is there an official release date for this product? I am awaiting it with great anticipation.
Release date?
It's due out September. (That's this month.)
But
when
in September, well... nothing official, yet. Every day I wake up hoping it's the day they announce the release. One of these days I'll be right.
See this, FFG! A third thread on this same topic!
The short answer is that nobody knows, but expect to receieve platitudes from people who have already got a copy
I'd rather send a platypus, but they're in short supply, so platitudes wll have to do.
Amazon says October 28th

I'd honestly take that with a bucket of salt or two.
I've yet to ever get a FFG book via Amazon before I could buy it at my local store. (I've preordered every DH book.) With the preorder discount my store gives me I don't bother with Amazon.
Barnes and Noble Has A Release Date of 9-27-09....for whatever that's worth....

Can't wait to pick this up. My friend picked one up at GC and has been teasing me with it ever since.
According to the sales guy at FFG, the release date is October, no specific date though.

According to Ross though, it's the end of September.
Unless they put it back again ...... and I'll be annoyed if they have. It's not as though some people haven't owned it for almost a month already..... OH WAIT

Sorry.
Customs wouldn't let you do that I'm afraid.
Unless you send a dead one.
That could work...

Huh? No way, Amazon promises it to be 19th September!
Now that sounds like something, Rogue Trader released on International Talk Like A Pirate Day!
This frustrates me about FFG they keep on talking at us but never listen to whatever anyone is actually asking them. All we want is a release date not a preview of of how the ship flies or what the crew does every other wednesday but a idea of when this book will be released. Amazon UK says 16 Sep, Amazon America says 28th October, Barnes & Noble say 27th of September. Why is there this much confusion over somthing as simple as a book that has been finished?
Why do I get the feeling this will turn into Dark Gods with them refusing to comment on it as the release date slips further and further back. In terms of product FFG always deliver top quailty product don't get me wrong about that but in terms of talking to your customerbase? You have a long way to go yet.
Having worked in publishing I can tell you that there are a million things that can delay a finished book, especially when it has to be shipped and quality proofed and t hen shipped again. As far as I remember the last few DH books where printed in china which means that they are uploaded to a print ripp at the printers, they run a test batch, the ones people got to buy at Gencon. Then they have to fit in the print run into a schedule, you see printers like this costs a fortune to run and operate and having one stand still even for a few hours is just not an option, so they rig them to run all the time every day, this means that FFG can sit there with their finioshed book and the printer (remember they want high quality for a low price because we dont want to pay 80 or 90 dollars for a book) so they have to wait for a slate to open up then they run a full batch, say 50000 copies, then major shipping haul, most likely by boat if we are talking those numbers (how heavy are these things 3-4 pounds) so thats a lot of load to move. Just because the book is done and finished doesn't mean that it magically appear in a FLGS near you

You know, it's stuff like this that makes me drop to my knees in the pouring rain as a camera situated directly overhead zooms away from my face as I scream "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" into an uncaring sky....
To be fair, FFG aren't part of the loop anymore, it's all down to the printers and distributors. If the printers are taking their sweet time, then there isn't much FFG can do but wait.
Not saying it isn't annoying as hell, but I can understand.

And odds are pretty good I'll be kneeling there right next to you, doing the exact same thing. Ah well... it's not like my RPG future isn't already planned out for the immediate future. I just wish it was filled with something other then 4th Edition D&D. *Goes to bang head against the wall*

... Actually I'd really like to have Rogue Trader here, right now... Not because it seems to be a really sweet RPG (well not only because of that)... But because im currently suffering from the worst case of writers cramp ever, and I have to be the GM this sunday. If I had Rogue Trader here, I could get my players attention steered towards that instead of this upcoming scenario which I have to finish.
That's just ridiculous. How can you go from "August" to the end of October, for Khorne's sake?

Fair enough. But that still lets them give us some indications of progress. Like telling us when the print run is scheduled to begin/end.

Companies don't like doing that until the last minute, 'cause you never know when things are going to change. You could have the print run scheduled for next week, but the printers burn down, or their staff goes on strike, or the region is hit by a 'quake, or the last print run goes overschedule due to a mix-up and FFG's one gets cancelled, or.... etc etc. Companies have realised that not telling the fans anything is better than telling them something that turns out to be wrong.
