So who... er, what is Inquisitor Caius Wroth?

By Ladislaus, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest

Inquisitor Caius Wroth looks... um, decidedly less-than-human (or perhaps more-than?). Can anyone--who is familiar with the Warhammer 40,000 Universe--comment on how an inquisitor can appear as pictured? Humans in the 40K Universe do seem to utilize a bit of cybernetic augmentation now-and-again, but this appears a bit extreme. (Or is this normal?)

Could be one of the radical Inquisitor factions (ones who believe in using any means, including corrupted artefacts) to combat threats to the Imperium. Sort of a 'use your enemy's weapon against him' mentality.

For those who don't know, the Inquisition is riven with inter-faction strife.

Also, as people are wounded in battle, it's not unusual to replace limbs with machinery. Iron Hands space marines even do it ritualistically, as they believe that flesh is weak and will fail them.

I don't know if anyone from the Mechanicum (priesthood of Mars) would ever be allowed to join the Inquisition (my guess would be no, but I'm not exactly a fountain of 40k lore), but that's another possible explanation.

Yep, definitely seems to fit in with the at-any-cost mentality, I'd say!

As an aside - check out this chap - his left arm is a gun...

Yeah as Feesh said.

I think hes heavily augmented, battle scarred and aged.

I didn't notice right away that he was a neutral, took me a couple of takes of the article before I was like "waaaaiiit a minute".

Don't think I'll be using him though, doesn't really fill a niche for me.

Those Vior'la on the other hand. Man.

I didn't notice until you pointed it out! ****!

The picture is reused and was originally used in a Dark Heresy first edition adventure - I believe.

In that, he was a radical Inquisitor that had been cybernetically rebuilt, but I cannot remember his name.

If you look at his fluff, he it says "...Wroth channels the Emperor's Fury to his own ends." That sounds fairly rogue-ish to me, and enough context to be a neutral I guess. Even his ability is kind of on message:

"I don't care who's deployed me, I work for me - you can BOTH discard down to 4 cards, *******."

Will be interesting to see if any of my locals employ his..."services"...

Inquisitor Heldane Human with horse augmented face.

Great thread and a good conversation!

I still wholly believe that this game will gain additional layers of depth/complexity (maybe complexity is the wrong word here) if more and more worthwhile Neutral cards are released that will elevate the aggregate state of play. This card, Caius Wroth, is a definite step in the right direction, imo. :)

Maby. I think they just wanted an "extreme" Neutral card :) . They allready had some art, badabing badaboom.

I did notice it right away, because i was looking to see if he would go with SM or AM. Neutral inquisitor: Yup, he's a radical all right! Is it just me or does his schoulderpad look orkish while his hand lookslike it's dark eldar tech?

Either way he is a nasty card to use in a Dark Elf Deck. He's basically the old man that's like "5 card! I don't understand I don't understand why be so confusing with 5 cards 4 is much less complicated I'm so confused lets just play with 4 cards that's much more fun and easy you know...".

Yeah he looks like a bit of everything.
