Right? I'm way too excited for my Gladiator.
I was excited to see it demoed on youtube. . . I have wanted it ever since!
After some thought I think I should have titled this thread......
I Think I Have a New Addiction.
I used to play X-Wing but I like capital ship combat and was thinking of playing Star Trek Attack Wing even though I don't like Star Trek. The combat in ST:Attack Wing doesn't strike me as how large ship combat should play.
When I brought SW:Armada I was worried it would be just the same as ST:Attack Wing. I'm so glad that Armada has surpassed all my expectations in more ways than I could imagine.
I finally have a Star Wars game that I've been waiting for since that summer when I walked out the theater in 1977 with my mind blown away.
Good work FFG!!!

*Standing ovation to FFG*
I will admit the rules seemed to be overwhelming and I was worried as well that the game play was going to be over complex. However, I found that it's actually easier, faster, and just as or more fun than X-Wing. I love the Capital ships and being able to command.
I have 90% decided to abandon competitive WM/H in favor of Competitive Armada (I wanna be an Admiral too!). It will come down to how many of the local gaming stores support it and run events.
But, I too, Love Armada. Nothing says im an adult like saying PEW PEW and making star wars quotes as you move your ships.
I got my three year old to make pew pew noises during a game. It was awesome.

I wasn't even alive when Star Wars debuted in theaters (not for Empire or Jedi, either). But I was hooked from the first time I saw Tantive IV fly overhead, pursued by Devastator. The scale of it was so impressive. Tantive IV seemed huge at first appearance, but then the Star Destroyer just kept going and going.
I've held off on getting into X-Wing for a variety of reasons, despite the fact that I'm a big Star Wars fan and many of my gaming friends are into it. Time availability is the biggest reason -- X-Wing sees the most play at my FLGS on nights that I work. But as soon as I knew one of the other regulars planned to get Armada, I knew I had to get it, and I would make time for it if I had to.
I am in the same boat as everyone here.
I started in X-wing. It was ok because the ships were cool but the game wasn't really great. I actually got into attack wing because the game was better (and i'm not a star trek fan).
The second I saw this game previewed...I sold all my X-wing stuff. Its looking like a great move by me. This is a home run by FFG.
does anyone want my attack wing stuff? ![]()
I have played a lot of miniature games in my time, (I went to the original movie in the theater) and this is absolutely one of the best I've ever played.

100% agreed. It is one of the better ones ive played in a long time.

LOL I can't wait until they release Admiral Ackbar's cruiser. I told my friends when move that ship I will shout out "It's a trap" and when it gets shot at I will say "Our ships can not repel fire power of that magnitude"

I am exited to have a back up VSD so that the stupid frigate or corvette don't sneak up on my aft and load me up with turbo-lasers. mwhahaha. 2 front arcs of DOOM!

Yup, you're going to hell.
Look, for me. I'll be at a window seat on the express flight holding a bottle of rum and a stewardess with questionable standards.
