I was looking at Dariya and her ability kicks in when she completly blocks an attack. Does that mean that she takes no damage or in a case of a throw she matches the right zone of the attack?
can you completely block a throw?
You can still completly block a throw, but you still take half damage. So it Dariya's case your opponent plays a mid throw, you "completely block" it with a mid zone block. The throws keyword effect would kick in and you would still take half damage. Then you would be able to react with Dariya's R seeing you still completely blocked the attack, despite still taking the damage from it.
A quick side question. If my opponent has an effect that says that if the attack is successful then x effect goes off. I reduce the damage to 0 but don't block. Does the effect go off?

can you show card text? I cannot think off hand of a single card that says "if this attack is successful"....i can think of "If this attack is not blocked" (nina's evil mist or w/e its called) and "If this attack deals dmg" (a la king), which both of those are pretty straightforward...
Can you post a link/name of the card in question?
The legendary "Throw Text" that used to be on almost all Throws (since Throw itself used to be just a designator like Punch, etc, that didn't actually do anything...) said:
"If this attack is completely blocked, it still deals half damage (rounded up)"
Nothing on Throws says they don't get completely blocked, they just still deal damage through said block.

I think the argumentation was that since the attack was not blocked even though the damage was zero the effects go off because the attack was not blocked.
Its Ivy's react that is the issue. It says it goes off if the attack does 3 damage or less. Is there a min 1 damage?
If an attack is reduced to 0 damage, then not blocked, it deals no damage. This does not trigger effects that say 'deals less than X damage' as dealing no damage does not fulfill the how terms of the effect, ie dealing damage.
So, not blocking a 0 damage attack does not let Ivy react.
