Title cards during setupHi

Hi,

I've got a question about a situation that actually came up for the very first time playing BSG, during our Pegasus premiere round. We played a three player game, which is quite unusual, and no one picked a political leader (everyone wanted to try new characters and no one wanted to be Ellen…). This led to the person who played as Admiral Cain to be first in succession for both the Admiral and the President titles from the beginning of the game. As we felt it wouldn't be quite right to more or less have martial law declared from the beginning, we opted to give the Presidency to the player next in line.

What do you guys think, have we overlooked some rule that would have aided us, or was our acting in accordance to the "spirit" of the game as we felt it correct?

Thanks!

According to the rules, you should have given both presidency and admiralty to Cain. There is nothing in the rulebook that says the same character can't start with both titles.

Thanks for your reply.

I guess you're correct, and the way to avoid it would have been to make more sensible character choices! This must be a very noob-ish mistake to make, I suppose. I guess the excitement over the new characters and game mechanics in Pegasus clouded our judgement! angel.gif

The key thing here is that you should never choose a support character in a 3 person game for not only this reason but because of the lack of political cards drawn or a balance of any card type of that matter. You should always consider the other characters already picked before you every time you pick a character.

Ironically enough, one of the most sound human victories i've ever seen came from a 3 player no pilot game
